What do you expect the Council to do? (1 Viewer)

Why are people starting to turn on the Council just because some moronic MEP has held a meeting with Joy and discovered absolutely nothing??

Please tell me what you expect the council to do differently?

"Sell the Ricoh to Sisu/CCFC" - Why even bother discussing it when SISU/Joy want it for nothing? Especially not a worthy price to the tax payer!

"They should have accepted the CVA" - Why is that? To accept £590k of taxpayers money? Were the taxpayer not entitled to the £1.3 million rent owed? Is it not right that they are still entitled to a large amount if not all of the £590k?

I have said all along both sides are to blame, the council/ACL are no angels. But by trying to suggest the council should have done more is ridiculous. Just because Joy has had a meeting with an insignificant MEP means nothing. What is the point in meeting with this woman? She is doing nothing. That meeting with Joy discussed the past and nothing of current importance. Surely the council leader has more to worry about than talking about what has already happened?

Publicly confirm their position and make a better offer to CCfc that if rejected shows up sisu's intentions more clearly or they accept it

They should sell ACL to the club. Not for free, but using the formular to acquire the Higgs shares and taking over the mortgage for the CCc shares.

Agreed, put offer in public domain we are all tax payers after all , very simple

Put it up for sale at the going rate. SISU can then either buy it, build HR2 .... or fight it out with PH4.

Better offer of rent and access to f&b

Unfortunately, in the real world, why should they.

Let's say you had a house and you agreed to rent it to a family for £600 per month. All was going well until the main bread winner lost their job and they expected the rent to drop to £300 because they couldn't afford what was previously agreed.

Now, unless you are up for sainthood, you would tell the family to pay up what was agreed or find somewhere else to live.

Does this sound familiar in any way?

because this tenant has a place to stay and will build their owm house if they dont.

they dont hold sisu over a barell anymore, they need to make a concession or have an empty ground.

So why haven't they actually done anything about the White Elephant Stadium?

We've not heard anything apart from Tim looking for animal faeces, we've not seen any plans that we were promised at the forum or heard anything about any of the sites they're looking at. If they're hoping to build this in 3 years we should have at least have submitted planning permission by now.

No because we're at the bottom of the business cycle and you don't sell then says Tim.

ACL are past the top of their business cycle ... time to sell.

Why are they past the top of their business cycle (and please don't say because the club moved out that's the sort of answer Tim would give)

Yeah, because we haven't got a stadium. Once we have one, our value increases - approaching top of cycle.

So where are the plans for this Stadium he's going to build?

Well, it's true, but let me phrase it this way:
The Ricoh will see about 250.000 less punters (edit: per year). The businesses in and around the stadium will suffer revenue due to the vast reduced number of customers. Sponsor deals will decrease in value. Just about everything connected to the stadium will decrease in value.
They have passed the top of the business cycle. It's time to sell to somebody who can revert the downward spiral.

They'll get the Olympics in about 84 years, just need to hold their nerve!

Mostly true unless they can replace the CCFC revenue with another tenant, which I grant you is difficult to imagine but as we know from the previous chairman something they've looked at as a disaster plan, if we moved out.

Amended that for you.

Absolutely no guarantees there Edgy. Our costs are low now, wage bill down quite dramatically. The cheap acquisition of the Arena could provide profits for SISU and who can guess what the rental charge will be to the club?? This is all about distrust, the hedge fund have shown nothing but contempt for the lifeblood of the club the fans and couldn't give a shiny shite what league we play in, who is to say they won't continue to load huge admin charges and other debts against the club but continually pleading poverty and maintaining the club at lower levels by constantly selling off player assets. This is just conjecture but so is your idea that they will sell. The council can be accused of being stubborn and self serving but the hedge fund have shown themselves to be sneaky, destructive and spiteful. What a great pairing !!

If it's a community asset why not allow the community free or cheap access to it, the football pitch can be common land for a season or 5?

Why charge car parking rates completely out of kilter with other council owned car parks?

The football club/SISU also charged these same extortionate rates as well, as ACL pre sold a good chunk of those spaces to the club who added on a considerable mark up and re sold them. Of course those of us who knew how, parked right by the ground and paid zilch !!

The club are allowed to do that, after all they have an extortionate rent to pay to their landlords. The cost per sq m of that land is very very high.

Those 9000 spaces went back to ACL when the club didn't pay it's rent.

Was there a reduction on the price of car-parking last season then without the clubs "extortionate" mark-up on them?

Let me give you a few more scenarios ...... What IF the council wont sell the Ricoh to them because they want to put it under SISU or a SISU related company, not Coventry City FC therefore charging CCFC rent? What rent will they want to charge CCFC?

In my opinion the council are prepared to sell the Ricoh to a buyer, but to ensure the tax payer gets a good enough return on their investment they have set a price that SISU are not prepared to pay, therefore there is no point in any negotiations?

People forget very easilly ...... they made an offer of £150,000 rent for the year with no matchday revenues from food and drink (which is run by a seperate company if you remember)

- The reply was that the contract with Northampton was already done, which could cost the club too much to get out of.

So what difference would it make if they were to buy the Ricoh? They would have to pay northampton a large sum of money to get out of the contract (if what they say is true ........ )

Was there a reduction in match-day ticket prices because the club weren't paying the rent?

Season ticket prices are 20% lower than they were 3 seasons ago.

I just dont get or believe this "SISU owning the Ricoh and renting it to the club" arguement.

They want out of this whole sorry mess. Entirely. They surely won't want to still be involved in all the media slanging etc that has brought tar on their reputation.

Give them the stadium and they will sell the whole package in no time.
