.....if SISU had stuck to their plan:

Norwich City v Coventry City

Norwich go into the final match of the season already guaranteed promotion. High-flying Coventry have secured a play-off position, but will be looking for at least a point to ensure they finish fourth. Both teams have no injury worries, but Danny Fox and Marlon King are both one yellow card away from suspension and may be rested or on the bench. Coventry striker Andy Carroll will be looking to finish on a high after scoring 23 goals this season. It is believed they will continue with the diamond midfield formation that bamboozled Norwich earlier at the Ricoh, when Coventry won 4-1.

I think I would go for King Carroll and the Juke up top with Sheffers on the bench. I also like what Hussey has done recently but would have Fox in ahead of him.

Why in your fantasy are Coventry only in the play-offs? Surely Pep Guardiola's Coventry have already secured promotion for our Sheikh owners with a record 135 points and looking to go for an unprecedented 100% season.

Read the preview - King and Fox are on four yellow cards - don't want them banned for the first leg of the play-off semi-final.

Because my fantasy was based on what might have happened had SISU followed their initial plan.

Guardiola, 135 points, 100% record:thinking about: - you'll have us winning the FA cup and in Europe too - it could never happen, or could it?

Now that's what I call real fantasy! Or do you think RR was lying when he mentioned Cork, Carroll and Henderson? Or that he [and Coleman] resigned when SISU out-voted him and sold Dann and Fox?

Good shout Scam, I stand corrected if one away from a suspension.

(As it's fantasy I'll agree but in reality five yellows isn't a ban at this stage. An amnesty in march unless it gets to about 7 I think all you get is a stern warning letter from the FA and no ban)

I think there's a bit of that. It seems suspicious to me that the outgoing chairman who's open to a return on the good ship Hoffman tells the fans the kind of thing that makes him a valiant superhero and the owners comic book villains.

People who were highly sceptical of anything Ranson said as chairman believe this kind of thing because it's what we want to hear.

I don't follow your logic - if they were sceptical when he was chairman, why should they believe him now? I've always thought he was a good and honest chairman, and the bonus was that he's an ex-pro footballer. As an ex-pro I can't imagine why he would make up the proposed transfer deals of Cork, Carroll and Henderson - he'd be open to ridicule from all quarters.

That is my logic. Ranson was being lumped in with big bad SISU as someone who's not to be trusted and isn't telling the truth, and suddenly he's gone and telling us about these potential transfers we heard NOTHING about and yet the same people take it as gospel, seemingly because it allows another gripe at the owners.

I don't think he's made them up per se, but I do think a massive amount of spin has been applied. The way we've heard it is that Ranson wanted it but SISU not only pulled the plug, but probably tied some housewives to the railroad tracks whilst cackling and twiddling their moustaches. It's all pantomime.

There's a sense of inevitability to all such sales, but if they're being down to preserve the football club then I'll grudgingly accept them. I just don't think SISU are somehow trying to sabotage the club or doing anything out of spite or similar.

I'm sure there's truth in that we had options on players, but not the picture that's been painted. Henderson for one; when he was here Sunderland were talking him up as one for the future, and he returned and went straight into the reckoning. Would we have ever actually signed him? I don't see it.

@ajsccfc - I understood that SISU's original plan was to invest in young progressive players and build a team that would not only get promoted, but that could survive in the Premiership with two or three quality 'promotion' signings. The considerable revenue from promotion would enable both the ownership of the Ricoh, and enough money to pay handsome dividends to the [SISU] shareholders. At that point they could even sell their shares/ownership, leaving the Ranson/Hoffman faction to continue their management. In my view they've lacked the bottle to follow their initial business plan, and all we've done is tread water. They don't understand football, and I remain deeply suspicious of their secrecy.

I'm sure that was their original plan, but such plans need money and with crowds dwindling and the entire planet going into financial meltdown, their football expertise doesn't really bear much relevance when they're having to recoup money from player sales and prop up the club itself. Put Pele and Johann Cruyff on the board but if there's no money, there's no money.

Well they did have money and they knew the score when they took us over. They lacked the bottle to see their plan through - ironic when you translate SISU from Finnish into English. I remain unconvinced, especially looking at the current board. Until they've gone we're going nowhere.
