Kids and grandkids think it a real laugh that I’m doing this. I may get a few surprises in a couple weeks that weren’t on my letter to Santa

Missed my planned last train home on Wednesday so had to revert to the 2.5 hour slow one.

Was obviously in a bit of a reflective mood as I randomly ended up down a The National rabbit hole and found a really beautiful, sombre song I now can’t stop playing called ‘Once Upon a Poolside’ - it also features Sufjan Stevens.

So if you know anything of the National or Sufjan, you’ll know it’s not exactly an uplifting one!

Also came across ‘Nobody Else Will Be There’ - another melodic but great song.

band with members of Deerhunter and Omni. It's from a while ago. Krauty, repetitive, beautiful guitars. It's got one of the best codas you'll ever here.

Never listened to them so I can't say. If it is, I should give them a listen. Got an album I should start with?

Love that, ta.

Desire Lines off Halcyon Digest (written by the Lotus Plaza lad) is one of my favourite Deerhunter tracks- reminds me of #13 Baby by Pixies with it's outro:

Just a single and a couple of others that I'm aware of, this being one of them.

rest of the Lotus Plaza album isn't too samey but it's all written by that bloke so worth a listen. Good shout on the Pixies outro, hadn't spotted that. Almost shared that exact Desire Lines vid - coda is so good.

If there's any Shinedown fans in here there's a new album announcement scheduled for next week alongside a world tour which includes a couple of local stops in Nottingham and Birmingham.

New one by Dry Cleaning is really good so far (first half). Loved the first record, second not so much, but this is great. First track's like New Romantics but on weed instead of coke, second one's Gang of Four but on weed instead of coffee, third one's like Pixies but on... you get the idea.

"I know what'll sound good. Let's play one riff for five mins, not change the beat at all, and have someone say things over the top." Mad how well they make it work.

Maybe. I saw them Sep '21 at Wide Awake in Brockwell Park and there was a big crowd for them tbf. I reckon their second album was a bit dull, might've killed it a bit. New record is better, though.

Working my way through the Propaganda box set, A Secret Sense Of Rhythm, which goes for ridiculous prices already.
