Westwood to Villa and Brad Freidel to us? (2 Viewers)

Is this a good shout? Would be a nice softener and a very good move for both sides.
Freidel could be the experience we need in the dressing room and on the pitch for our young stars to make a promotion push next season. Easily still good enough for us in this league.

Two issues that i see with that swop 1) age of Freidel & 2) wages. There may be two good much younger keepers avaialble from relegated sides at what I would think are much lower wages i.e. Lonergan (Preston) and Murphy (Scunthorpe). We have also been linked to Murphy before when rumours of Westy going were about.

Can't see brad coming here he's still absolute quality IMO. Wages and much better offers from better teams if he were to move me thinks.

I heard this one when the January transfer window was open, I don't think it have many complaints if it did happen for a season or two.

He could easily go for a few more years in the MLS if he felt homesick. Look at Kasey Keller.

Westwood could go there for free now so why would Friedel come to City ? Besides wages would hamper this move plus like someone has said he could get a good deal more wages in USA than here.

I wouldnt say no but is not going to happen!! Too much, we need to invest in a young player like westy.

I'm led to believe he is going to Celtic!!

Freidel is still a premiership quality keeper so would be a great asset if did come to us but as the above have stated he would have to take a substantial wage decrease and at this time in his career would he have the motivation to come to a championship side as can backfire look at David James going to Bristol City.....Also the villa link I can do without lol

Still a preimership class goalkeeper, and in that sense would be a good acquisition. Plus the experience from the back would be good.

However would much prefer a young/younger up and coming keeper, as Westwood was when we first got him. There are plenty around, plus Murphy and Lonegan would be good shouts due to there respective teams being relegated and as such would probably be willing to move and be available at a bargain price.

Alex Smithies would probably be my choice overall though.
