Link on the CET website (info copied below from Andy Turner piece) states that we're increasing our scouting network. I think this is a positive move...in fact, a great move for SP and the club, so long as it bears some fruit and we actually bring in players on decent length contracts, so long as they fit the bill for SP and his way of playing. Good work.

WM

Steven Pressley is continuing to look for an experienced striker to take on loan to boost Coventry City’s immediate concerns for the rest of the season.
But the Sky Blues boss also has half an eye on longer-term recruitment of players after taking on three new scouts to cover the length and breadth of the country.
When he took over as manager 12 months ago the Sky Blues had just one scout on the books, but the City boss has taken steps to expand that to a team of four, with more hoped to follow in the future.
“We’re still looking for an experienced loan player but not having any luck with that at the moment,” he said.
“But an area that has to improve is the recruitment of our players because it’s a fundamental to success at the club.
“We looked to employ a head of recruitment several months ago but it didn’t quite work out. The person we identified chose not to come at this moment in time.
“So we restructured and we now employ a scout in Scotland, a scout in the South of England, a scout in the North West and a scout in the Midlands.
"That has just happened in the last two weeks because it’s an area we have been trying to improve on.
"I think it’s one of the most important aspects in terms of the club’s development but there have been so many things that we’ve had to address.
“But slowly and surely we are putting the building blocks in place, and one of those is our scouting department.”

He added: “When I came to the club we only had one scout in place and it’s difficult to do, in my opinion, the types of thorough checks required to bring in the right personnel.
"And that’s why this is an area where we are building up and where we hope to see improvements over the coming years.”
The club’s chief scout is Graham Brown, who was the only scout in place when Pressley was appointed last March. Brown previously worked for Notts County under Martin Allen and has also scouted for Chelsea, Spurs Sheffield United and Rotherham in the past.
“He’ll cover the Midlands and hopefully we’ll look to grow our network further in time because it’s a key aspect of the club moving forward,” he said.

I thought we'd also got ex-players scouting for us? Didn't I read that somewhere once?

Better ring the club and tell them not to bother as Shmeee suggests we will just miss out on any scouted players

I'm sure him and Italia have already got it in hand. It's probably all lies anyway as SP is just a SISU puppet with TF as his master.

Do we have scouts that identify clubs for our better players to go too ?

In other news, my mate started working for the academy again this season. (After 2 years at Leicester)
He received a XL training jacket with no zip and then the 5 or 6 people who were signed up were told not to come back after the first week as the club couldn't afford the CRB checks or admin costs.

Not really related to the thread but it made me laugh when he told me and I'm not starting a new thread about it.

Of course we are going to scout players. Not a bad thing. But it looks as though it is the way we are going. Lack of experience in the squad and first team, but at least it is the cheapest way of putting a squad together.

I would be a lot happier if we had more experienced players that the youngsters can learn off. Like Wilson learned off his strike partner and came along very well for it. All we can hope for is freebies for them to learn off. There are a few decent players available on a free. But we are not the only club after them.

You should have tried to get some kind of repeat fee for this as it'll be quoted a few times over the coming weeks.
