I'm not 'dreaming' of autos. I'm expecting it based on the team we have, the start we've made and the lack of a Leeds/Burnley 100+ point team this year. In fact if there is going to be a 100+ point team this year I'd argue we are the most likely!

It's a massive chance that we simply have to take.

We have some tough fixtures in November with Sheff Utd (h), Stoke (a), WBA (h), Middlesbrough (a).
If we can get 8 points from these then top 2 place up to Christmas should be possible

There’s not a team in the league I don’t think we can’t beat. The whole mentality of the club has changed, our management and players don’t fear anyone. The way we played at Leicester, where we did face a lot of pressure, we stayed calm when last season we would have lost that game

In 21-22 we were 4th after 7 games with 15 points (2 more than we have now) and we finished in 12th. Forest had 1 point after 7 games and were in 23rd place and got promoted.

So it's way too early to tell how things will unfold.

You might remember I called us 2nd to 4th before the season started. For some unknown reason many put us mid table. What wasn't considered by many was the advantage of having most of our squad and the whole 1st team that have been together for at least a year (other than Grimes who just slotted straight in from January) already knew how each other play.

I'm now slightly changing my prediction. I thought Ipswich would come 1st. I think we have a chance of going up as Championship champions so now my guess is 1st to 4th. We're doing what Leeds did last season but with a better GK.

Players we signed in summer '23 will have made getting on for 100 appearances for us now. Most hadn't played in this league before. Reckon that counts for at least some of the improvement and consistency we're seeing.

The lack of player churn is a positive too, from the starting line up yesterday only Grimes and Rushworth weren't with the club at the start of last season (I think).

That's a very good point friend. We have a lot of experience in this squad who are used to the rigors of this league; I think that will only help us this season, especially if we have do have some down stretches at points.

People talked a lot about caps across a squad when England Rugby were rebuilding under Lancaster. Pointing out that at elite test level, cumulative experience seemed to count for so much.

Basically telling people to trust that if that squad kept stable and built up their cap count together in proper Test matches, you'd start to see consistency in results and performance and we did (sometimes!).

You can’t tell yet. We look good taking results from Jan, but you’ve got to expect the relegated teams plus Sheff Utd to be better than they have been and they all have squads for a long season. Lots of football to play yet. I’d take 3rd/4th and a good shot at winning the POs.

Think we need at least two signings who can challenge the three behind Wright to kick on, that’s if no one gets seriously injured.
