Guys obviously a prick, but let's not pretend she's an innocent in all of this other than legally. I'd certainly have him in sky blue ahead of someone like Lee mccormick who is playing league football. Sure his was an accident, but that family was completely innocent and lives were lost, this isn't even comparable imo.

Until this reply I was going to express surprise that so few people were prepared to stand up for the child groomer compared to the sexual assault convict, but I guess there's always one!

Have a word with yourself. She was legally a child at the time and he was fully aware of how old she was.

Nobody is standing up for him so don't tar me with that brush, simply pointing out that she courted his advances (he should know better than to respond) whereas the innocent children that were killed had no choice. Everyone saying he's finished and won't play again, but LM picked up exactly where he left off.

"She courted his advances" for goodness sake she was a confused young girl whereas he is a fully grown man who could have any young woman of consenting age yet he chose to be a ruthless predator and you try to excuse his behavior?????

Clearly an emotional subject, so I'm not going to comment further, but please don't make out my words to be anything more than based on the reported facts. Neither situation is good, simply an honest appraisal (as is my right) to say which crime I personally find most abhorrent.

I think if he met her in a nightclub and she pretended to be 18 and he had done stuff with her without knowing it would be different.

The guy actually asked her her age, and what year she was in at school. then cracked on when she said year 10.

I think the fact she was a fan of Sunderland too and met her through that (Rather than a nightclub etc) it makes it worse. It would be like one of the city players meeting your daughter who is 14 / 15 and trying to crack on when they are late 20's.

If it was mine they would probably end up like Callum Davenport before being sent down

You say reported facts Rob.....defence QCs always try to bring the victim into disrepute.....my advice to you is to think things through and not just believe what you read before you express an opinion

I think the fact he text her asking how old she was and what year at school says enough. Whether she wanted it or not, it was made clear to him she was in year 10 and not 16.

If it was about sex, he is a footballer, he could walk into a nightclub and probably have sex with nearly any of the women in there.

Sexual desire is probably hardest sin to resist for men I guess

This was what I thought initially. 15yo lied and lured him into bed then went coppers. But after reading up on its apparent he's a sick puppy

Why do some people love to stifle and shut down debate? Some people like to think "what if" and others like to deal in firm realities. Both are points of view that have their merits.

Exactly my thoughts. Thanks
