He has admitted to grooming, therefore will be a registered sex offender. Won't be allowed anywhere need a football ground

Be interesting.

See there's a bit of anger at the Birmingham driving case, where a bloke overtook a bus at 47mph in a 30mph zone, on a bit of a blind spot and killed two children, 6 and 7.

He got just 4 years and a 5 year driving ban. Sentence has been described as grossly lenient.

Can't compare the two case of course, but seems some get treated differently. How on earth can you only get 4 years for driving recklessly and killing 2 children? And more to the point, how come he hasn't got a lifetime ban from driving?

He did have his appeal, think his defence was along the lines of somebody wearing the same hat as him or something.

Stupid c**t.

everyones very split on this one!

There shouldn't be any split about it. The nonce (who as already admitted guilt and knew the girl was 15 at the time) will get sent down for a few years. Regardless of whether we'd want him here (we don't), his career is effectively finished as a professional footballer.

Errm, get the feeling, weeman, he was being sarcastic!

Being sarcastic about wearing a Wasps top is banter Otis, bringing a paedo into the equation is stupid in my eyes. I like to think I have a decent sense of humour (seriously, I do!) but it was a ridiculous post.

We've got better things to be discussing like train stations, Gilberts disappearance, bouncy castles and fake green seats.

I mean just the comment 'everyone's split on this' when clearly they're not!

Effectively a one year ban due to the sentence.

Why not actually bother to read up on it before posting?

So, why isn't he in prison? I only heard a bit on the radio, but it says he pleaded guilty to grooming and kiddy fiddling, but he's disputing two other charges. Surely if he's admitted guilt he should be banged up, no?

For the sake of consistency, if he's a free man I have no problem with him earning a living anywhere he wants. But I question why he's a free man.

If he's able to play someone will make an excuse to sign him.

Yep, just checked. Still ongoing. All part of the same trial I believe and not separate trials.

If they had been separate and he had previously admitted guilt for those, he would indeed be in prison.

Ah, got the impression from the brief bit on the radio about his contract being cancelled and OP's post that he was free to play, I assume that won't be for very long.

Nope. Awaiting sentencing! Guilty seems the obvious conclusion to all charges you would have thought.

He will obviously get a custodial sentence. The truth though is that he will also in all probability find a club to sign him and the usual plethora of excuses will come out.

In fact I predict this to be playing out on here in a couple of years.
Done his time, everyone entitled to 2nd chance but most importantly we need some goals etc

Why do some people love to stifle and shut down debate? Some people like to think "what if" and others like to deal in firm realities. Both are points of view that have their merits.

I don't see what personal behaviour off the pitch has to do with football, but wont he be going to jail for a while?

Yet, as I pointed out earlier, a guy yesterday got a 4 year sentence for reckless driving and speeding, yet he knocked down and killed 2 children!!
