Finally we get some viewpoints from the "horses mouth". My summary is that it is the PR machine in action and that Les did not (was not able to) delve deeper into some of the comments made.

Basically, its everyone else's fault and I've thrown my toys out the pram and its my way or the highway and I don't like to fail. There are so many anomalies and contradictions in the comments that I don't believe the spin one bit.

Very disappointing and does not give me any real hope for the future.

Exactly. A couple of words get released. Suddenly she is getting death threats.

Don't you think that we would have been told about it if she had been getting death threats? But the usual SISU way of webs and deceit lets us know things that are going on that have not happened.

I wish the lot of them would fuck off into a locked room and only be released when a deal is done. But what chance is there when there is no trust between each other?

So basically. She doesn't say anything and we slag her off. Then she does say something and we slag her off. The council don't say anything but that's OK.

About sums it up.

What a disappointing interview. Les is certainly no Jeremy Paxman is he?
Time for those attending Sixfields to think long and hard about what they do. Support this ruthless awful Sisu regime or try to force them out by not showing up.
Come Christmas/January - us CCFC fans have to think ahead to next season and whether we force the issue with plans for our own CCFC.
I'm still praying that things will change.
But as most here have said, nothing new in this interview/PR exercise.

Given all that has happened, I'd be surprised if she hasn't had death threats.

Still, that's just a distraction.

I agree with OSB, the only viable way forward (for them) is to get on and build the stadium. So do it then, although I don't agree it need be all that far outside the city boundary, given that the application is sure to go to public enquiry and any objections by CCC are sure to be secondary (if they are only about access) given that impact on roads in Coventry is likely to be minimal.

It is evident to me that there is no prospect of fans forcing SISU back to the Ricoh by boycotts, she seems the sort who would do anything it takes not to cave into pressure. We have 3 options - put pressure on the council to sell the Ricoh (I would favour that, but suspect I am in the minority), sit and wait for the new ground (4 years minimum in Northampton - fuck that, but if I can see a new home being built I could live with it), or start a new club.

You just don't get it do you?

So she has admitted that the judge and most of us were right about what SISU were up to. What else have we found out? Not a lot considering some were making out that she was going to be asked some questions we all want the answers to. We want to know when our club is coming back to Coventry......or where it will be. It is about time she spoke to someone that can do something about our predicament. Not just someone that can release more stuff we already know about. So most of us were right on what they were planning. So what? That won't bring us home. Yet we are supposed to be happy that she has spoken :thinking about:

Yes, I do get it.

Unless the council sell half of the Ricoh to SISU then we will NEVER come home. We will either stay in Northampton or we will have a new stadium that is no longer strictly in Coventry. That is the stark reality.

The article was never going to answer every question we have, no. However, it has raised more questions. I want to know what PWKH, Lucas, Mutton, Reeves, etc have to say on the matter.

Looks like weve possibly played our last game in the city of Coventry then. Im not interested in supporting a Warwickshire based team. The clue is in the name. Infact if they do play outside of the city imo they shouldn't really use the name 'Coventry City'. They won't be representing Coventry and won't be playing in a city.

Other than going on about a death threat. There is a massive difference on whether a death threat was used or not. This is how rumors are started. Before we know it there will be certain people on here saying she has had death threats when there is no proof of one. Just carefully selected words.

Does that mean Grimsby and Manchester United should change their names then?

Just over the boundary but in the Coventry conurbation is fine by me - I'm not so anal that I get all precious about an imaginary line drawn by a civil servant. Boundaries change anyway.

Start putting miles of greenbelt between the club and the city and I start having difficulties.

And don't you think that how much they are willing to pay comes into it?

She has admitted that they wanted to pay a lower amount than was owed on the mortgage to get the Ricoh. Now if this is all she is willing to pay then it won't happen. The charity are not allowed to give up on the money they have put in. The council can't just give up on what they have put in. And if she won't meet with them there is no chance of finding out the finer details.

This is not having a go at anyone. This is reality.

No, that was an agreement bewteen SISU and ACL which both sides signed up to, it was sensible, and it concerned part ownership of ACL, and not the Ricoh. Ownership of the freehold is clearly worth a lot more. Will they offer below market value? Almost certainly, but it doesn't mean it will be an offer that is unacceptable given the circumstances (in financial terms I mean - the fact it will come from SISU will probably make it completely unacceptable regardless of the amount offered). CCC will not sell, therefore they just have to get on with the process of building a new ground.

From today's article.
Joy Seppala via CET said:
“The club needs 100 per cent ownership of the freehold of the Ricoh. If you look back at the history of the club, you can see why this is important.”
Joy Seppala via CET said:
She said she had made her position clear at a meeting with ACL directors on July 25, adding: “I had thought we were going to talk about a deal involving stadium ownership.”

Asked if it was an extreme bargaining position in public from which there may be room for private negotiation, she said: “I don’t posture. I always tell people what it is I need. I don’t go for wasting time in negotiations.

From reading that it looks to me like there wasn't any room for building trust by back up slowly by agreeing anything other than a sale of the Ricoh to SISU. On another thread Northern Wisdom said

Deleted member 5849 said:
Well, the 'info' about Joy Seppala saying that it was the freehold or nothing was categorically denied by a CCFC board member.

But now we know in a statement straight (via Les Reid) from the horses mouth (no slur intended) that it was the freehold or nothing. So why did the CCFC director you mentioned (which I assume was Mr Labovitch?) say it wasn't true? Then if you look at the statement from ACL in August

PWKH said:
Statement from the Board of Arena Coventry Limited
"The Board of Arena Coventry Limited is extremely disappointed by the Football League's decision yesterday evening relating to Coventry City Football Club. There are many more questions to be asked now of both the Joint Administrator Paul Appleton and Football League itself.

“That both these parties appear to have been complicit in allowing a company which has refused to pay its debts and fallen into administration, to then buy itself back with little or no consequence, beggars belief. The overwhelming majority of Sky Blues fans and indeed football fans in general are appalled by these actions.
"We are incredulous at The Football League’s continued disregard for its own regulations thus far in this saga. The Football League needs to protect its own credibility and refer this whole matter to the Football Association for review. Everyone associated with the game in this country will respect a Football Association judgement. We urge the Football League to make this referral as quickly as it was able to make a decision yesterday.

“We have also seen during the last 24 hours the emergence, via an independent website of documents, which appear to make a mockery of Mr Appleton’s supposedly lengthy hunt for Football League Golden Share. These documents show also that far more than the Golden Share lay in Coventry City Football Club Limited, which was also the location of the players, manager, gate revenues and everything else associated with the Football Club.
“If these documents are authentic, then those Directors of the Football Club present at the Coventry City Football Club (Holdings) Limited Board meeting in March 2008 need to speak out. Sky Blues fans need those Directors to explain how they think the purposes of Coventry City Football Club Limited and Coventry City Football Club (Holdings) Limited later became blurred.

"ACL originally acted to prevent the threat of liquidation of the Club issued by the current chief executive officer of Coventry City Football Club, Tim Fisher. ACL has since been working as hard as possible to keep Coventry City playing in Coventry and on a sound financial footing. Mr Fisher has also now chosen to make factually inaccurate public statements relating to the meeting attended by Joy Seppala as well as ACL Board members on Thursday 25 July. It is interesting to note Mr Fisher’s failure to mention Ms Seppala’s verbal statement during this meeting, made in the presence of her own lawyers that the only circumstance in which the Club would return to the Ricoh would be upon SISU assuming full ownership of the venue without any negotiation on purchase price. Ms Seppala also stated at this meeting her intention to continue to threaten ACL and its shareholders with expensive litigation at every possible opportunity. Perhaps the fact that Mr Fisher was not himself present at this meeting has distorted his view of what was really discussed.

“People can make their own minds up where blame for this upsetting situation lies. It is clear however that the actions of both Mr Appleton and the Football League should be scrutinised by Sky Blues fans, other football supporters representative groups, the media, the Football Association and Parliament. The liquidation process allows for detailed investigation of the failed business and we will be watching carefully to ensure this is carried out in an appropriate manner in the case of Coventry City Football Club Limited. We hope also that because of the questions being asked by supporters and other stakeholders about his actions, Mr Appleton will allow new, independent liquidators to investigate the actions of the Company and officeholders if the Company does go into liquidation, which we note has still not been publicly confirmed.”

http://www.skybluestalk.co.uk/threads/34951-ACL-Statement?p=509700&viewfull=1#post509700

Especially the bit I've highlighted in bold it looks more like they weren't being inaccurate, now that Joy has come out (sort of) and confirmed part of it. So given she confirmed the first bit why couldn't Les have asked what price she offered them for the freehold. And as he didn't assuming the bit about the non negotiation of price is also correct any other guesses as to what the price she wanted the freehold for was?

I would also like to know does she still intend to litigate ACL and it's shareholders (The Higgs Charity and Coventry Council) back to the stone age - my phrase* not hers - and if not why the change of heart?

*with apologies to the late Gen. Curtis LeMay

The Quote attributed to JS was "“It would be crazy from a business perspective to go back to the Ricoh without full control. All the money that’s been put into this club would be put at risk again. So no she wants it all and on her terms.

She is also attributed with saying "Would I be open to listening to what they have to say? I would. That is strictly for the fans. I feel empathy for the fans’ position. It is not fair what’s being done to them. They haven’t deserved what’s happened to the club over the last 12 months."
Possibly one thing I agree with her on. But SHE caused it.

I agree with most of this, but how do we know what CCC are willing to do if Joy won't meet with them? Why would CCC want a meeting if they don't want to consider a deal? Maybe at the time when SISU tried to get the ground for less than the mortgage was a time there wasn't a deal on the table. Joy has admitted it is on her terms or not at all.

All this shit is doing my head in. It is us that is left to suffer. But until they meet there is nothing that can happen.

I have highlighted the part of your post which sums you and many others, a few weeks ago you were all slating Joy Seppala for not being transparent and not talking to anyone about our predicament, yet within three days Joy talks to a member of the SCG and a local journalist and it's not 'worthwile' and we don't know 'more than we did before'.

Contradiction go and look it up in a dictionary then look in the mirror.

So what do we know more then after this interview? Worthwhile would have been learning more than we already knew. Same old shit is nothing new. But you seem to like coming out with the same old shit. So you will be happy. Most of us wanted to learn more. Who else will she meet that won't help our cause or let us find out the truth on what is going on? Who else can help her to spin what is going on and what will happen in the future? And at least you have learned how to spell 'embarrassingly'
