what style of footy does this messiah play then? i remember orient played some good stuff when he was there?

He's a traditional 442 man and used a target man up top, a bit more route one but more effective at getting results that possession based football at league one level.

Seems to like the little man big man combo at his previous clubs too so I expect to see a target man in January

I just hope we get that new manager bounce.

Not sure his style of play matters this season; must grind out enough results to keep us in L1. Worry for me is that the back 4 don't look particularly strong but if he picks up a couple of good defenders in January and sorts forwards out (you know like playing sordell in position) and someone new alongside to keep banging in goals then we should be ok.

First couple of Google results aren't too promising:

Though frankly, as long as he gets results, I couldn't care less at the moment. We aren't building a club right now, we're fighting for survival.

I think he was on a hiding to nothing there.. had to trim the squad back, was not the majoritys preferred choice manager either, a club that needed stabilising after the premier league. Similar to the task jimmy floyd was asked to do for QPR. Slade got the results more where as jimmy didn't.

Don't think so. Though I must have missed the Wenger and Mourhinio years at CCFC

Neither of those wingers have a final delivery on them, I'd rather see George Thomas play up top with Sordell in a big man little man combination. I have to say I'm excited at the prospect of going old school.

I think Wenger did lower leagues in France but I'm certain Mourhinio never played at pro level Berti Mee Arsenal manager who won the double in 1971 was a physio

That but with Thomas instead of Agyei, could also put Rose in on the right for a less conventional right winger.

They've done that in the past, remember the knee jerk appointment of Coleman on a 3 year contract? How much compensation has the club paid out for ending manager contracts early, thankfully Mowbray waived his.

Also, do we want long term thinking from SISU? I would prefer a short term exit plan myself

The Messiah ? Nope just another jobbing manager dropped into an impossible situation.

He is a good shout at keeping us in L1 though.

My prediction is he is in the job for 9 months.

The appointment most people were hopeful of, literally the most realistic options available; a manager with experience of difficult off field situations and the lower leagues, a good motivator and man manager.

I repeat he's literally exactly what we need and the best we could have realistically hoped for ......yet it's still met with negativity and re-direction to criticism of SISU by some.

There's enough of those threads, let's all enjoy a slither of light in an another wise depressingly dark tunnel. Or in another words, the first bit of good news we've had all season.

Good news - got him till the end of the season, but maybe if we get behind him and things improve (ie. league position and gates) perhaps he'll be tempted to have a proper crack at promotion? Depends on who's pulling the strings by then.

It wouldn't be Christmas without a bit of Slade anyway, so lets be merry and optimistic

Personally (and again nothing to do with my overall opinion of Agyei), I just think Thomas's movement and link up play and the way he drops into the hole would bring more to the team. Hes also our player and I would rather develop him ahead of wright and Agyei, unless we brought someone in like Armstrong or Samuel who were a class above.

Thomas missed one or two chances early on (that was only 2-3 games though), but I wouldn't say i've seen anything in Agyei is a better finisher - again nothing to do with my general feelings on his ability but he just hasn't produced, his best goal was against Northampton, the Bradford and sheff united took deflections and the Southend or Rochdale were unmisable chances.

I just think Thomas would bring more to the team than Agyei, who for me would be a far better impact sub, when players are tired.

That said we really need better than both of them if we're going to pull ourselves out of it.

Very Very Happy with this appointment ....4-4-2 with Tudguy and Sordell up front banging in the goals fed by two wingers.
Think this is as good as we could have hoped for managerial appointment wise and very streetwise in these leagues too!

I'm hoping he can get in a big strong target man on a free, doesn't have to be Messi with the ball at his feet but just strong and a nuisance to their defenders.

Does slade have any of those players who follow him everywhere we can expect to be here soon?

This is guaranteed in a Russell Slade team, used them at all his previous clubs. He's even used a few of the same players at each of his clubs. Alex Revel was a favourite of his previously.
