Never had this before where I watched us destroy a team.

The side got me out of my seat jumping up to celebrate about 12 times, only to be gob smacked when the ball was not in the back of the net.

Then watch them take their first shot, goal.

We hammer them again. They take another shot, goal.

I have been up the Ricoh on the odd occasion and jumped out of my seat twice in some matches over the last so many years.

That was good entertainment.

We played well and lost 3-0

I think it was their 4th on target that was saved.

So at one point it was three on target three goals.

I have to be honest I have never experienced a cov game like that.

I still feel proud if the team despite a painful defeat.

Yea, it was the strangest game of football I have probably seen

The most one sided 0-3 I have ever seen, I was enjoying the game for the first 75 mins and was convinced we would score.

Exactly the way I feel too.

Their keeper says we battered them, the stats say we battered them. 25 shots on goal, 14 corners, 57% possession.

Have no idea how we didn't score at least 2 tonight.

It sounds like the FA Cup game against Crewe in the early 00's. We absolutely battered them and could have won by 5 or 6 but Clayton Ince was unbeatable that day.

I remember that.

He was outstanding.

As they said on CWR tonight, if that Crewe keeper played like that every week he would be playing at a much higher level. We can only assume then that this one came a bit out of the blue!

Get a fucking grip, we huffed and puffed. They scored 3 incisive ruthless goals. Once again we built up the hopes of a city and dashed the dream. An oh so familiar story of my 30 plus years of watching us. I d have taken 1-0, 0-0, 0-1. We blew it, enjoy your sugar soaping

25 shots on goal and 15 corners.

How on earth did we not get the ball in the back of the net at least once?

Bet if you looked at the stats for a team having that many shots, most of the possesion and 15 corners, they would point to at least 2 goals scored on average.

It too bizarre for words. Don't think i've ever seen a game like that. I was humming 'score in a minute' for 90 bloody minutes lol

That's a concern Otis. We played a game earlier in the season and I remember saying after a dozen corners we produced nothing? Same tonight.
We ultimately were the masters of our own downfall.

Work to be done. Lessons to be learned. Think a few players thought we just had to turn in a half decent performance and we'd be ok.
This was a two legged affair. Patience was a virtue.

Can we do it at Crewe? ha the $64m question. IF we play to our normal strengths and dismiss this as a bit of a freak result then yes we can go there get 2-0 up and have them rocking before you know it. Problem is they will play with 10 men behind the ball at home. If we get to 2-0 up it will be a great game for the traveling support to see out.
In this leagues company anything is possible.

Sure it was Cup? We lost to them in the league in a similar game (04/05) if memory serves.

We beat Crewe 3-0 at Highfield Road in the 3rd round, might have been the same season as the infamous 'Clayton Ince Show' match!
