Just watching some vids on player and he is still here, decked out with training gear with a number on too.

Think he is going to end up signing to be in the background?

Got no issue if he does sign again on lower end wages. Adequate and committed squad player.

Agree.

Think he would be more than competent as 3rd/4th choice.

I'd rather Willis was back up for CB. Willis isn't a RB. It's possible he may re sign but would it be worth having him in the reserve team?

I'd be happy for him to be in the squad. According to one feature in the programme, pretty much every player in the squad said that Webster would make the perfect manger. I can see him becoming a coach here.

Webster is nowhere near as bad as made out to be.

I'd rather have him kept on than Aaron Martin.

Not sure someone mentioned To me as I'd just about missed the Warm up
Reckon Jamie Clapham probably took them as I think Venus Is supposed to take more of an executive role.
Having said that there Is nothing to stop him taking a warm up session as a part of the team on a Saturday or like today just a friendly

Whilst Webster has not been a good player here hes obviously very experienced at club and international level and we couldn't do much wrong by offering him a coaching role. However I suspect he still believes he has a few years left playing

If his wages were cheap and he was happy to be a backup I suppose he might be worth keeping around. WOuldn't be top of my list if we're trying to stretch the budget as far as possible though.

Its a long season so an experienced back up on a cold Tuesday night when we have a few injuries isnt a bad idea.

Maybe a small wage with an appearance bonus on the basis he is back a back up?

I understand why there would be mixed feelings with offering Webster a new contract but I think the negatives massively out-way the positives in my opinion. In reality League 1 is too high a level for his ability now. Whilst he would be a solid presence for the younger players in the dressing room and on the pitch respectively it would be a waste of our already restricted budget to recruit him once again. We already have Ricketts, Johnson, Vincelot, Tudgay and O'Brien to fill that 'character' role. I'd much rather take on the "out with the old and bring in the new" philosophy and place my faith in Willis and Harries who are both promising young CB's and could make an impact this season. Also there's talk of Pennington possibly making a return this season which would defintely be money better spent than offering Webster a contract to effectively warm the bench all season

I wouldn't have him back as player.

If he shows any promise as a coach then possibly keep him on as a coach.

Isn't it more likely that we are just allowing him to train with us to keep his fitness up until he finds a new club?

I find the abuse on here for Webster very odd.

He's no world beater but he's good enough to be 3rd or 4th choice for a league one team ffs.

It's ridiculous. He's performances have been no less competent than Haynes or Willis but it doesn't stop him getting outrageous abuse.

For me its a question about Harries more than Webster,, if TM is happy with Harries then use any spare money in other areas.. Johnson,Ricketts, Willis and Martin will be the 4 he looks at for the 2 spots,, i said before not a great situation or strength at CB, but webster does not make it stronger by adding him in.... TM should get his shorts on,, now he was a decent CB in his day...

I don't rate him much as his legs have gone, but part of his bad press is that he was the ex managers blue eyed boy and could do no wrong so us fans try to find even more problems.

I have a bad felling that this is how Ricketts will be seen in the end,, not the same player but the same outcome....
