Not too hard to see where our problems lie. I know this is hardly a revelation to many hardened supporters who see year after year the City not scoring enough goals, but why is it we always struggle every season? Is there something inherently wrong with our club?

Often struggling sides seem to out-score us. This season again the same problem. I realise we have limited resources and I know we've not replaced MK, but not enough goals from throughout the team. Eight in total five of which were from Juke. God help us if we lose Juke because he is the only player who has scored more than one this season and of the three others who have managed a solitary goal, two are currently out of the side with injury and the other has only recently returned from injury and I would be amazed if is not injured again soon. Apologies for the depressing thread, but why us? Why is it ALWAYS us? :-(

The dearth has occurred largely in the last 3-4 seasons ,coleman /aidy style ugly football comes to mind ,we had a few under Micky and Dowie ,3s and fours now and again, can't forget those Derby results under micky . Pace, is a massive factor, which we have lacked this season and to a degree last, mifsud had it and goals in him but was played out of position ,Dele was a 12-15 man if he had a full season ,Stern could knock them in if he was in the mood.Scocroft 10-12 from being used out wide ,Morrison was,nt prolific enough probably 12 ,who was ur last 20+ man probably Mcsheff about 4 years ago . so 1/ pace 2/midfielders who don't gamble on getting forward 3/ set pieces.we should expect around 35 from strikers ,20 + from midfield ,15-20 form set pieces with midfield and defenders .

I think Cody McDonald may have a hand in changing that statistic.
Thorn said he was going to bring him on until Murphy got injured and he is ready now and chomping at the bit.
He also described Platt as a tactic against a big forest side so expect Cody coming off the bench early at Leeds to score the winner!

Sadly Cody is not the answer, i think he is capable of getting 8-10 goals a season but no more sadly. MK was the first time since Dion that we had a top goalscorer and wasnt it nice! If you cannot pay the cash you will never get a player like this. Saying that i think we are cursed with strikers, all strikers come here with promise and leave absolutely destroyed!

Yes this malaise has been with CCFC for many years throughout numerous managers and countless players.

We just don't play Gungho football - accent always appears to be safety first in passing sidewards and backwards instead of the killer forward pass or the speculative shot.

Football is a simple game but other teams score more goals than us season after season by playing attacking football - to have the second leading goalscorer(s) with just one goal is completely unacceptable.

The double bonus of attacking football leads to pressure on opposing defences resulting in additional free kicks, penalties corners etc by simply occupying the final third - safety first football puts pressure on ourselves unneccessarily.

So if its that simple why can't we be more adventurous and go for it - it is bewildering why we don't or can't.

Wingy - I agree the lack of pace is a bit factor, this will particularly hinder us getting points away from home, where we will need to play more counter attacking football.

Re: Miffy - he actually scored most of his goals for us playing in a wider position and cutting in, a bit like sheffers did in his last season with us.

Paxman - it's unfair to pin all our hopes on Cody filling the void, he has potential and proved himself in league two, but the key word is potential. In fact eastwood and rod have proved themselves in the league above and are clearly not good enough so how can we put pressure on McDonald to succeed where they failed?

The only chance we have of ever getting a decent striker is if we ever get lucky and one comes through the academy.
But I have'nt any other answers we seem to be a graveyard for strikers. It always seems that before we sign them they are world beaters then they come to us and we ruin them, then they leave us and become good again and normally score against us.

random i know ..................but i reckon if we had our fans behind both goals rather than tucked away in the corner we'd score more goals.

Got to be more intimidating defending a corner in front of crowd rather than empty seats or your own fans

Its a strange one Speedie ,be it behind the goal or down the sides ,no one tends to sit near the front ,not since the days of standing,it was evident on saturday, with free tickets given away in blocks 32-33 ther were more people sitting near the front ,not only does help to intimidate refs and other players you could see the effect with players warming up ,and clingan taking the corners ,maybe thats what they could base the price differentials on,and encourage people to occupy the perimeter.:thinking about:

Perhaps we should barrier off the top 10-15 rows and only sell tickets near the pitch? Then open up more rows as we need extra capacity.

i'd love it if our fans moved from block 16 to the first ten rows of the telegraph stand and recreate the old west terrace

This idea has been suggested often by fans often in the past, it would mean fans would be sitting a lot closer together as well and would encourage a positive atmosphere.

Email the club, its a winner ,we'll all get wet now and again but we're harder than that ,are'nt we? Or we can all bolt to the back when its too bad.

i think juke/cody could get 15 each, its not about them though imo]

where has thorns attack attack attack mantra gone? until we pressure teams in final third we wont see these goals, create the chances and we have strikers that will finish them imo

Not just down to strikers, service from the midfield has been awful in the past few seasons!
