We are safe but.... (1 Viewer)

We are safe and have a squad requiring more tweaking for next season. The most alarming thing for me was the collapse after Leon Clarke went and Wilson was injured, the replacement loans who tbf were not very good and how Pressley coped with that.
Overall I give him a ton of credit but that last third of the season having been on such a roll at one point, does temper that judgement until next season I'm afraid. Such things as Baker, Adams warming the bench was slightly curious to me. Too much change and we see what happened?
A lot will depend on whether the club agree to invest in the team regardless of the place we end up playing at...

If we start next season with the same form we've had since Xmas then I'm not hopeful. We could and most likely will loose our best players over the summer one way or another. So it's going to depend on the player's coming through the academy and who we can bring in. Personally I have more faith in the academy.

I don't see this 'exodus' of players many talk about? One good season is no guarantee of a repeat performance for Wilson.
We have some good players at this level. The academy is producing good talent and at this level we should be able to add a few wise choices and experience to the squad that makes all the difference. Build the side and the philosophy around Wilson and tell him so. Also tell him how Leon's move worked out for him.

If I was his agent I'd be telling Wilson to try and get the longest most valuable contract he can get because as you say "one good season is no guarantee of a repeat performance", he needs to capitalise on it now, and you could argue so does the club.

What are baker and Adams wages?
Could such decisions become relevant in the summer?

Baker is reportedly £8k a week. Ridiculous if so. Unless we agree a pay off no one will be interested in him. We should do all we can to get him off the payroll.

SISU took £1.8 million interest didnt they ?, maybe we should do the same for them ?

According to Pressley the club have agreed to invest in the squad, only problem is that it is less than this season. In which case if this seasons signings are anything to go by then we will be in a world of trouble.
