Rushworth motm

They could have had a lot more if it wasn't for him.

Other than Rushworth, BTA everywhere again. Kitching with more than one crucial bit of defending.

We looked over-run in midfield generally, but Allen used the ball well.

BTA motm for me again today. More for his work off the ball.
Will be interesting to see how we go vs Wrexham. It’ll be a toughie I think. Time for KKH to shine!

Rushworth MOTM. Watford will play worse and win games .
Can't be unhappy with a 3-1 win.
The sloppiness of the second half needs to be ironed out against Wrexham . Hopefully Torp is fit for that .

Yeah.
I think I can safely say they’ll be ‘up for it’. Individually they’re good - I just hope we’ve got enough tactically to beat them.

Rushworth gets to pick the toppings at today's pizza party, and
Sakamoto gets first trip to the salad bar.
Jamie Allen gets to sit head of the table if Frank can get a booster seat from the hostess.

Difficult game to rate - we won 3-1 but we're poor, and got dominated by 10 man Watford, and didn't creat any chance of note in the second half.

For info Our xG 1.31 compared to Watford xG 2.76. (if you exclude the pen that's still significantly higher than us 1.96)

Based on performances over the whole 90 mins

Rushworth 8 (-1 for the pen)
Milan 6
Thomas 6
Kitching 7
Dasilva 6
Grimes 6
Allen 7 (bonus point for goal)
BTA 7 (bonus point for the goal)
Sakamoto 7 (bonus point for the goal)
Wright 6
EMC 5

Subs
Wolf 5 (looks very slow in thought and pace)
Eccles 5 (not a 10)
Simms 5 (feeding off scraps)
KKH 6.

Lampard 4.

I thought he was really passive, we let Watford dominate us second half with 10 men and didn't really do anything about it. We were also far too open all game, could have easily lost the game. I'm rating performance not the scoreline.

We won the game, but I can't say he got his tactics spot on.

Kitching deserves a point or two docked though for giving away a needless penalty or Andy Turner was watching a different game again

I think Andy Turner is either pissed or on drugs. His scores are more over the top than usual this week.

Thought Wright had a poor game. EMC good until seeming indecisive with final ball. Far too much space between Kitching and Thomas which Lampard clearly wasn’t happy with. Dasilva not as defensively sound but Baah is a worthy opponent. As Evo said, no standouts other than Rushworth - rush of blood to the head for the pen though.

Rushworth MvE BTA and Saka all worth a mention. Rest were OK. Defensively looked dodgy at times. Less so with Wolf on.

I think we want to be aggressive and leave ourselves man for man at home and try and blow teams away tbh.

Rushworth 8.5 (docked a point for the pen he gave away in what was otherwise a fantastic performance) clear m.o.m

Kitching 8 the only strong performance in what was a poor defencive effort.

BTA, 8 huge energy, another goal and a thorn in the Watford side all afternoon.
He continues to have a brilliant season

Sakamoto 7.5 worked incredibly hard and earnt his goal

All the others 6. Meh

I thought Imran Louza was excellent for them, im giving him an honorable 8.5

Slightly surprised at the very high ratings for Kitching as I felt he got done too easily for the goal (as he did the other night). He was very good apart from that, granted.

Dunno that he was culpable for the goal, although was a similar ball as against Pompey. I’ll have to look again.
He saved us a couple of times today.
While Rushworth made some good saves he also made a couple of clangers.

Edit: I think it’s fair to say we weren’t at our best collectively.

You know that we've come a long way when we're unhappy with a 3-1 win.

Rushworth was top drawer except for a single mistake, and BTA was everywhere, again.

Saka took some credit too, his physical bravery is awesome, never backs out.

Everyone one else looked a little off it, especially in the second half perhaps, but they stuck together and got the job done. It's what champions do.

To be honest the HT score flattered us, Watford had better chances than us in the first half. We were constantly caught out by their pace on the counter attack.

Rushworth was outstanding. Three excellent finishes, but over all a stuttering performance.

But we won and that is what counts.

One possible positional error for their goal although what Rushworth was doing out there im not sure and sloppy by BTA on touch line - not seen any deductions for them, but Kitching had a very good game otherwise. Also slipped Wright through for sending off with a great pass with his wrong foot after good tackle

Allen 8
BTA 8

Subs were all much of a muchness

A very uneven performance all in all, and hard to grade, the team is clearly flying in terms of confidence and everyone knows exactly what they’re meant to be doing. But on another day, the chances we gave up would have cost us dearly. Not sure if it was the high line or the midfield that was to blame for all the clear chances we gave up, but the midfielders going forward were extremely good at least.

We were 3-0 up for most of it.

It wasn't a great performance, and the first half could have been almost any score. We put three of our chances away, they put none of theirs.

The second half was a non-event from our point of view. I'd read nothing into it whatsoever.

Jamie did some much running, so would give him motm.
Carl fabulous saves but no need for that challenge that ended up as a penalty. The ball looked clearly out though for a throw in to City so that goal should never have happened.
A mixed performance overall but a welcome three points.

I appreciate the boldness of this approach from Lampard - and it's clearly working so far - but JDS, Grimes, Thomas and Woolf aren't quick enough to make me comfortable watching it haha.
