Looking for some advice.
I fly to Australia on Friday for a month’s holiday around Australia and New Zealand on a cruise.
I have paid to use the ship wifi so hoping to be able to watch the Derby game and a few others whilst Im away.

I have the Sky App and a VPN as Ive been told you cant watch sky outside europe. Does anyone know if I will be able to watch Sky games including sky plus on the Ipad or would I be better subscribing to Ifollow for a month ?

If you a VPN for England you should be able to access Sky Go

Although I don't think the red button games are available to stream on Sky Go? You can only watch them on a Sky Box I believe

I'd check the guaranteed speed of the WiFi you've bought 1st just incase there's different level of options for speed
If you have a dodgy firestick then take that with you and put the VPN on that too....I do this whenever I travel to watch any sport I want

I have been on cruises in the past (albeit my last one was 8yrs ago) and have found the wifi to be just about good enough for scrolling twitter/intsagram etc.

But dreadful for watching anything

As I said that was 8 years ago the technology may well have improved

As I'm sure you know, 11 hours ahead for the period away in most parts of Australia. It isn't easy speaking from experience. Maybe just enjoy yourself. Nothing worse than staying up all night to witness a defeat and coversely nothing much better checking the results next day and seeing we've won.

I'll planning to be in Melbourne during April.

I think sky are quite good at detecting VPN ain't they? So I wouldn't rest my hopes on that

I was able to use Sky Go in Florida last august and France the year before using Nord VPN set to UK. But it took a few vpn refreshes and sometimes dropped out.

I believe you can watch sky sports plus games but have to get the sky sports app or possibly watch on their website. To be honest as you’re overseas anyway it may be less hassle to just buy the games on ifollow and not worry about Vpn.

I'm sure you'll have a great time, but who books a Cruise towards the end of the football season and the start of Winter in the Southern Hemisphere.

You'd be better off trying to buy iFollow passes on a match-by-match basis. All of these broadcasters are pretty good at detecting VPNs now.

Perhaps I need some more credit for watching weekend games often at 2am and midweek ones at 4:45am

In answer to the original question, pay for EFL ifollow and cause your VPN will be in Australia this wont be a problem

Or just buy a Firestick like I did in Bangkok and I get to see all the games home and away.

Cruise ship wifi is pretty poor. I used to work on one - and the satellite link is v expensive and not what you're used to on-shore.

If you're near the coast - you might be get be able to use mobile data (from the phone network) - but you'll need to purchase data - or it'll get v expensive v quickly!

Have an amazing trip - but perhaps don't plan your trip around adequate wifi!

I travel a lot to New Zealand and Africa and “shut down” until I come home. Then I settle in for a session of 3 or 4 games in a row.
Last year included the Wolves game. I saw a picture of Hadji on the back of someone’s paper in an airport and assumed we won. As the 90 minutes ticked away I thought I had made a mistake. The end of that game was better than the whole trip.

Well been in Sydney for three days now and like some of you said Sky even with a Vpn doesnt work.
Using the hotel wifi and subscribed for a month to ifollow. Perfect and was able to watch the full Stoke game later when we landed.
if anyone is travelling outside the EU get Ifollow.
looking forward to the Derby game at 6.45 am tomorrow now then hopefully the paid for upgraded Starlink on the ship works for the rest of our hols.

was in Darling Harbour yesterday evening having a meal and walking past was a bloke and his wife wearing the black and gold Shirt and bucket hat.
Nice to see we get every where even the other side of the world

Sky are on the ball for people using a VPN. You can't even watch their highlights. But iFollow is a different matter. Countries all over the world have the rights to the Championship games, but if your VPN is any good just set it to Luxembourg. iFollow and Luxembourg via a vpn has never failed me yet unless a cup game.

I think its criminal you pay all that money to bob around in the ocean, captive audience like and they have the bloody cheek to charge you extra for the friggin wifi...do you have to chip in for fuel at the same time?

I’ve got a Cov fan in my gym who’s an actual Aussie… blows my mind. Haven’t actually asked him how or why he started supporting us, I’ll have to ask him next time

I spent a few weeks out there earlier in the season….

One of the places we stayed was in the bush with no wifi, so I had to walk 20 minutes in the dark at 3am to stand beside a telephone box that had wifi, whilst dodging snakes. Derby 2 Coventry 1

I mean it’s impressive but no more dangerous than navigating Small Heath on a Tuesday night in the St Andrews days.
