Zuniga scored bucket loads everywhere else he went as well, sadly.

I can't believe no-one has said Runnar Normann...thanks, Strachan! Note how he is responsible for so many of our bad Prem signings? Or was it all down to Richardsons dodgy "player investment scheme" (AKA "Sky Blue Money Laundering Inc."), ah...

Runar Normann and Laurent Delorge were both signed with big reputations as quality young players. Safe to say that neither worked out though.

Craig Bellamy.

Yeah we got our money back on him, but he was rubbish considering he was replacing Keano.

And the fact he's a grade A Stefan.

The Atkinson/Strachan era was horrendous, considering the money that we had.

One name I've just remembered. Alex Evtushok. FML.

Can almost pick 2 teams out of that:

Hedman

Nilsson ---- Breen ---- Konjic ---- Guerrero

Thompson ---- Chippo ---- Hadji ---- Froggatt

Keane ---- Hartson

--------------------------------------------------------------

Huckerby ---- Roussel ---- Moldovan

Boateng ---- Carsley ---- Soltvedt

Jarni[!] ---- Wallemme ---- Clement ---- Edworthy

Hyldegaard

Subs: Aloisi, Palmer, Gustaffson [Antolenius!], Delorge, Zuniga, Bellamy, Bothroyd

Interesting that the majority of these signings were forwards - they were bought by consortia rather than the football management with a view to keep them as squad players for a short while before selling them on to make a profit. Strachan is quoted as saying he didn't know half of the players in the squad.

Me neither! Is this an actal signing we made?

I dont recognise Alexandr Evtushok either! Do recognise every other one though, not all for good reasons!

Surely the worst and most expensive signing has to be Terry Butcher ?

Evtushock I liked. He was very cute at kicking players when the ball had been laid off. I was most disappointed when he left. Especially when you consider who played in his position - Shaw and bloody Williams.

Kevin Kyle is the worst - especially as he was bought using some of the McSheffrey money :facepalm:

Have Walleme or Genaux been mentioned?

I think Fahlmann was a Swedish GK. We had a few Italians and a Swede called Spong or Sprong in the youth team. Some of them were good on Championship Manager as it was then!

Lee Mills was another rubbish one I just remembered, argh.

Wallame was a class above, you could see that quite clearly. Unfortunately he was homesick so we allowed him to go.

Allegedly obviously - A lot of the signings during the Richardson / Strachan era were doen for individuals financial gain rather than for team building reasons. A few people made a lot of money at that time - team remained mediocre and steadily got worse. Many murky deals, middle men and shady payments and a lot of mediocre players at inflated fees.

Walleme, looked like a vagrant with his shaggy 'grizzly adams' type beard, but was hard. He left Lens the French champions to join us, god knows why, swapping Champions league for Barnsley at home!!!

Evtushock had promise but left due to immigration issues, and I dont know if we ever got the cash back.

Delorge had promise but broke his leg and was never the same again, whilst Runar Norman was just plain cr*p.

I wont even mention Genaux, especially as he is no longer with us, but thomas Gustaffson was highly rated, here one minute gone the next, and is now the artist fornerlay known as Gustafson as he changed his name to Thomas Antonelius. why??

Richard Spong was another and perhaps sums up why we went into so much debt. Youth team player, from sweden, who although was highly rated should never have been on 5k a week:facepalm:

Gustafsson changed his name to Antonelius as that was his wifes surname and apparently it was dying out in Sweden so Tomas just adopted it as his own.

Think there are some harsh ones in the list, Stern John scored for fun compared to the majority of strikers we've had since. I think Strachan's signings were all with the best intentions.

If we're slating any manager for signings the buck has to stop with Peter Reid... Truly truly appauling.

Biggest waste of money in my memory would have to be Keith O'Neill just for the amount of time we actually paid the bloke!

Didn't we also sign two of Strachans sons? One of there names was Gavin but the others escapes me. Would be interesting to see how much he was paying them!

The other son was Craig, who only made it to youth level when we let him go due to a knee injury that finished his career

Bang for the buck has to be Tim Sherwood. What a plank....no, that's what he looked like on the physio's table!
