Is there any sane reasoning behind that. Seems odd that one would be allowed in and not the other. Know we're used to everyone bending over backwards for Wasps but this seems off taking it at face value

It hasn’t been agreed - it’s subject to certain conditions being met. One is paying rugby creditor debts in full. Worcester can’t find that assurance

One had 30m debt, the other 95m+ debt. Go figure. Possibly Worcester messier because of the ongoing issues of previous owners flogging assets to themselves for pennies

Somewhere in there you'd think Wasps would have to say where they are going to play their home games

Holland tbf to him isn’t an owner but an associate director - the principal people were Eastwood Richardson and Vaughan.

he is I think fronting the money for the bid but he’s not the same mould as those who caused the mess

Course he's involved.

No idea how any directors are allowed to be directors or involved with the new setup.

RFU require payment of "rugby" debts - the rest have to look after themselves

Wasps back in business for next season confirmed - Should probably prioritise paying the numerous businesses they’ve left out of pocket before they splurge on new players

Venue unconfirmed but it’s in the Midlands… please god not the CBS

If it was the CBS, how pathetic would it look

Barely anyone was going when they were playing big clubs, the game against Cov Rugby aside I can’t foresee any attendances over 5000

Wasps website announcing agreement of new owners with RFU says “As part of proposals accepted by the sport’s governing body, a groundshare agreement has been reached with a Midlands venue – which will be announced in the near future – to host its home games.”

just suicidal for CRFC. Wasps probably have sufficient funds to produce a promotion team and that would swallow CRFC.
but wouldn't Wasps need a certain size stadium to play in the Premiership if they got promoted? Can cover the 5000 requirement now but would need to be a 10000 capacity by 2024/25. Or is the council going to fund an expansion?????

Imagine having the whole country to choose where next to take your failed rugby club and deciding to bring it back to where it all went wrong and where there is clearly no local support. At least from anyone willing to pay

He is involved

Wasps are delighted to announce their return for the 2023/24 season, with confirmation they have now fully satisfied Rugby Football Union (RFU) requirements.

HALO22 Limited, a company owned by Christopher Holland, recently completed the purchase of the intellectual property, history and memorabilia of Wasps RFC, a transaction that saw the Club exit administration.

Andy Scott, a former CEO of 188Bet and Interim CEO of the Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation, has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer, and will be supported by former players including Kenny Logan and Peter Scrivener, as well as a new main board of senior level executives.

With the formal transfer of assets complete, the new management group submitted a long-term business plan and were approved under the RFU’s fit and proper persons test. Following this, the Wasps Men’s team can now confirm they will start the 2023/24 season in the Championship, English Rugby’s second tier.

As part of proposals accepted by the sport’s governing body, a groundshare agreement has been reached with a Midlands venue – which will be announced in the near future – to host its home games.

Andy Scott commented: “We are proud and delighted to secure the future of this great Club. Wasps is a famous and highly regarded name in the history of English and European rugby and while this is a new venture and a fresh start, it is fundamentally built on the same values that brought the Club success and respect in its heyday.”

Christopher Holland, the Club’s new owner, said: “As the new custodian of Wasps, I am fully aware of the responsibilities I have to its supporters, history and heritage. I do not underestimate that duty.

“Even though it has been an extremely challenging time for everybody connected with the Club, today’s decision is a reward for the hard work undertaken to date, and means we can now start planning for the future.

“There is, however, a long road ahead of us. In addition to fulfilling the obligations to rugby creditors as set out in regulation five by the RFU, we continue our conversations with investors to improve the funding we have acquired to date.

“We are diligently creating a viable long-term business model for the Club, and we have had to meet rightfully stringent and modern business requirements for regulatory control and corporate governance. The RFU and PRL have been a supportive partner during the process.

“I would like to place on record my thanks to all of our fans and partners, the wider rugby community, and all former players and staff. The support we have received has been incredible.”

Amazing that a current director of a company that owed so much money, can basicly buy the same company in admin and start again.

You just know we're going to end up with them back here. It seems crazy, the people of Coventry don't want them here, looking at their forum their own fans don't want them here. Absolute madness. Not to mention all the local companies they ripped off

If Ashley isn't involved somehow and they're being charged market rate for rent they'll be fucked from day one

And all of that before you consider the old Lucas line about not agreeing to the move if it damaged CRFC, not sure how another team playing in the same division can be considered anything but damaging to CRFC

Utter fucking vultures, capitalising on a genuine club representing it’s community that have been badly managed for a little while. Weren’t allowed to do it before Worcester’s application was rejected so they’ll do it now instead. Bet their fans are popping the champagne bottles already, scumbags!

Thinking about it if it was the CBS why wouldn't they just annouce it. Not like they've ever had any issue with pissing people in Cov off

The vague venue in the Midlands makes more sense if it was Worcester, you wouldn't want to announce Wasps playing there the day Worcester themselves get told they aren't allowed in the Championship next year

Frankly with these parasites nothing would come as a surprise

If they do end up playing in Cov, they need to be made to feel even less welcome than before.

And when they play Cov Rugby, you lot need to get up there to support your local club against those parasites.

I wonder if the existing Worcester fans would support them if they have no club to follow. It wouldn't happen so easily in football, but rugby doesn't seem to have the same tribal support base as football. It seems completely wrong, but I can see how the Wasps bean crunchers might see Worcester as a viable option to move to if you take out the damn cheek of it.

The Wasps project has never met with the resistance it should of, why would this be any different? It's an embarrassment to the city to be honest.

Yeah, the project was not met with any resistance at all. I agree with you, and have repeatedly stated my disgust that there were even fans of CCFC that went to go and watch them. Some of which post on here.

The Worcester thing wouldn't surprise me. Not let them come back, but allow Wasps, and then Wasps take their ground. That's exactly the kind of thing they are capable of. Come back here though? Entirely possible, and should that happen, then there needs to be war. This time needs to be different. I for one will be getting more proactive and involved, and would encourage others to do the same.
