Shugs in Drunken Wasps reckons there’s a core following of 4-5,000 in the Coventry area.

Bouncing straight back won’t necessarily be easy, we know that from experience. They have no players or coaches so will be starting from scratch.

Wasps phoenix club owners will have factored in the potential rent cost and expected crowds. Being at the CBS gives them that "big club" kudos and would attract more sponsorship than playing in some non league football ground where they can be forgotten about.
Small though it may be, there is a core following for Wasps here now- certainly more than anywhere else
They still have Henley and can base operations from there as we do with Ryton so just rent the ground matchdays
They could easily bounce straight back into the premiership and become a heroic story to some.
We still dont know Ashleys real intentions so Premiership rugby could be part of that

They dint bring in big sponsors as a Prem club. They sold cheap or offered sponsorship for work. In fact some of their sponsors are creditors !

I would not be surprised to see them in Cov. But they will make little to no money. even if they get in the prem there legends wont be able to keep supporting them unless they have deep pockets. Wasps rugby made huge loses. Thats not going to change and they wont have the arena to fall back on.

Let’s be honest there is likely to be another sport using the pitch at the CBS wouldn’t surprise me if Coventry ladies FC try and increase to a top league team, lots of decent crowds now in top level Womens footie I’d say bigger than a lot of RFU games there was over 40000 for the recent Manc derby.

Take a 0 off that and I still think it's generous. I know quite a few folks who went up there and are not fans of Wasps per se. Just people who got a freebie and thought that level of Rugby would be a nice afternoon out. Fucking weirdos.

With the growth of the women's game, it would be good to incorperate the women's team under the CCFC umbrella. Can't have Cov Utd being higher up the leagues than Cov City surely.

They might have to up their game a bit then, they are more than likely being relegated from the second tier.

Are you really comparing Man City / Man Utd to Cov Utd?

Martin Reeves proud of his achievements for CCC.
Moving to a salary of £225k, he must be really good!

The Wasps project has never met with the resistance it should of, why would this be any different? It's an embarrassment to the city to be honest.

To be fair, now it's more known about the levels of debt they had and how many local companies they screwed over - including the local ambulance service and the local taxpayer, I think there'd be less apathy this time round.

And I'm still flabbergasted that they would consider staying in Cov - regardless of any 'hardcore' group of 2-4k fans.

People need to keep looking at the admin report and that list of who they f*&ked over. They didn't give a shit whilst trying to make it and screwing over the local population whilst doing it.

They are absolute scum of the earth for the way they behaved. They don't deserve a 2nd chance.

No not at all for obvious reasons. Looking at Leicester for example bottom of the league with no points they average about 3000 not brilliant by any means but did Wasps get much more than 3000 pay on the day spectators and they are a top RFU club.
I don’t think it will matter what division a ladies team would be in the girls love it I know my ten year old granddaughter, a city st holder does and her mates. Lots of potential there.

I would be very surprised if any of the businesses who were shafted by Wasps would supply the replacement club with anything! "Once bitten, twice shy".
Secondly, there was a rumour that in the sale of the club "Wasps" to the new entity that there was a clause in the terms stating they had to play in the Coventry area for 2 years. This could be totally false, but if true could be behind any discussions regarding the CBS

Whole concept (bond aside) was that the stadium business would have to finance the rugby side for it to be successful.
Sponsorship (brand toxicity a factor as well) & F&B are not that significant in Rugby generally or with the crowds Wasps could attract - basically they create the possibility of minimizing losses. It's the Rugby climate - only one of the rugby Premiership clubs was not running at a loss (even before COVID) and their TV income streams took a hit when they sold out a % to CVC. The CVC buy-in stopped Wasps and other Rugby clubs going bust pre-COVID. Nearly all these other clubs have wealthy backers to keep them afloat - is there such a person in this new Wasps ownership group?
As for the core support of around 5000 that could be replicated elsewhere particularly if they moved closer to their original roots- they were managing 7-8k in Wycombe. And if 7-8k wasn't enough to make them profitable in Wycombe (so-called reason for moving hard to see how even similar numbers would make them profitable at CBS

Like pretty much everything Shugs says that's complete rubbish. They couldn't get people to turn up with thousands of free tickets and Premiership rugby. They aren't going to turn up to watch a reformed Wasps in the Championship

We've been there, we know how soul destroying it is playing at a practically empty CBS, they'd be lucky to get that many for their first game and it will go downhill from there

How much is a ticket to Coventry rugby £20 ish wasps would have to under cut this to get any sort of attendance. They struggled with cheap tickets when they owned the stadium.

It'd be a genuine mentalist who, if they're playing at the same level, would pick the cuckolds over Coventry's own rugby team!

Other issue with Wasps staying is that they are then in direct competition with CRFC. Could possibly understand some new fans wanting to watch the "best" clubs when going to Wasps in PL - no excuse if they are both in Div 1. Wasps had always claimed them moving to Coventry wouldn't have a negative impact on CRFC - if they return now obvious BS!!

Is there any sane reasoning behind that. Seems odd that one would be allowed in and not the other. Know we're used to everyone bending over backwards for Wasps but this seems off taking it at face value
