Wasps apologise to fans for silence over talk of move to Coventry
03 October 2014 05:38 PM By Sam Dimmer
Aviva Premiership side issue statement to say they are unable to reveal more at present as they are 'bound by confidentiality agreements'

Wasps have apologised to their fans for keeping them in the dark as rumours about a move to Coventry persist.

The Aviva Premiership side - who currently play at Adams Park in High Wycombe - have issued a statement today.

The statement said: “We understand how frustrating the current uncertainty is for Wasps supporters.

“It is not through a lack of desire that we haven’t updated you, it is simply because there is nothing we are able to add to our original statement at this time.

“This is because the club’s hands are tied as we are bound by confidentiality agreements.

“When we are in a position to say something, we will communicate to our players and staff, to our supporters and to the media.

“We appreciate your patience at this time.”

Fans of the club, that was originally based in London, have taken to social media to vent their fury over the club's silence since the Telegraph revealed they were in talks to buy a share of the company that operates the Ricoh Arena.

A petition has been set up to oppose the move, which could be finalised as early as next week.

The petition has already attracted more than 750 signatures.
