I don’t see how Ashley wouldn’t be an upgrade? He knows the money is in the Prem. He’d get us there - would he spend to push us further? No - we’d basically be in the position we’re in now - just in the premier league.

wasps would just be a side show, they’re a means to an end. He’d probably try and sell them first chance he gets

Well the Mail's reporting said that Ashley was interested in first taking over Wasps before he then gets to us - is that not the plan we're talking about here?

I think wasps will be relegated as Worcester
Ashley despite his money was not a fans man according to a Newcastle fan I know - they couldnt wait to get rid of him - oh the irony
No one buys them unless in admin so 99% going to happen followed by relegation

I don’t actually see what choice we have and actually Ashley will only I believe buy them if they fall into administration. It would end up next season as a bit of a fiasco as you’d have wasps vs CRFC

I’d be more than happy for Ashley to take over the club, as said above would he bank roll us to the Champions League.. no, but atleast we would be in the prem and have a season every now and again romping the Championship.

Is it going to happen.. no, we’re Coventry City. We’re going to end up at Sixfields with Josh Mcquoid upfront in L2 whilst Wasps become the biggest Rugby Club in Europe at the CBS.

Then surely the majority would be opposed to an Ashley takeover if it involves Wasps and CCFC.

Ashley’s primary goal is the Ricoh and us. I’d imagine he’d try and flog wasps to that other geezer and let them swan off to London, Worcester or the alxandra stadium

they can poison there

Where had it been said that we’re his primary goal? What evidence do you have of him the looking to sell them on?

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I'd be pretty optimistic if Ashley ended up buying CCFC - nevermind that the current plan on the table apparently also means Wasps in Coventry for the long haul, and CCFC and Wasps being part of the same corporate family. I can't imagine giving enough of a shit about a rugby team to stand in the way of the right bidder taking over CCFC. But supposedly there are people on here for whom the future of Wasps/CRFC is actually very important.

He’s a money man - the money is in the premier league. The potential to make a huge sum of money is pairing us up with the stadium, and getting us into the premier league.

there is no money in Rugby

but, at least publicly, the only things on offer right now are the stadium & wasps - those deals need to be completed sooner rather than later whether by administration or otherwise. He has to show a long term sporting club use, wasps have a longer lease than CCFC (who have said they will be gone in 8 years)

As for ownership of CCFC, that can wait because from his point of view ccfc's finances become more under pressure and once Ashley has the stadium that puts him in a position to drive a harder bargain. If Sisu dont want to sell now then that leaves them two choices in the future. take another lease or spend many 10's of millions on a new stadium............. when perhaps the club value might not be so great

from Ashleys point of view its all about putting things in the right order to get the most leverage and overall cheapest deal(s)

I mean, fair play to you if that's how you feel. Personally, if Warren Buffett showed up promising Champions League football at the CBS within five years, then even if he was promising to make Wasps a global superpower and demolish the Butts Park Arena as part of the deal then you wouldn't see me standing in his way.

From what I heard on social media, which slightly differs from GIMOC, but I wasn't there obviously, something is in the offing and could happen before Christmas.

Though he made a near identical statement a few years ago when the red bull rumour was doing the rounds and he was cosying up to wasps.

I think he'll be right on this occasion though.

This is interesting. There's a new article on the Cov Tel about Dallaglio (that's not the interesting bit) which was updated 5 mins after it was published. Looking at a comment on Onceawasp, it appears Bobby Bridge removed a paragraph about a board split -

Very concerned about the last paragraph saying the board is split on what is best and has put some buyers off

As far as I'm aware none of the proposed deals to buy Wasps and / or the stadium involve Wasps leaving the city. Which bidder do you suggest is the best option for CRFC?

Can't see how Wasp could afford to play at the CBS in the championship, what about moving to Stevenage, Crawley or Barnet to a stadium size that suits

He's a hard headed businessman. He knows where the potential goldmine is as regards the PL. With Wasps, it's difficult to see them turning a profit - they didn't even manage that with overpaid galacticos. We may not be his primary goal - but we must look a hell of a lot better investment than the rugby team, potential wise.

If anyone does buy both clubs and the lease, I hope they pack Wasps off to some shitty little stadium somewhere and bring Cov Ladies in to play at the CBS along side the men's team.

I would imagine he's not daft enough to realise there's no real money to be made in rugby. Sepella once said they were as high as they could get and still losing money, I think this is true. He did well selling Newcastle but I can't see he'll be able to make that kind of money with a Rugby club, even if they ended up being the best in Europe, the TV money and sponsorship isn't comparible.

If it's a choice, think I'd rather have Ashley than the NEC group. With the NEC, we would always be tennants. With Ashley, there's a chance he would take us on at some point and eventually sell us as a package (once SISU realised there's no real other get out - believe they did say they were open to business and encouraged someone to buy the stadium?) If we had some investment and were successfully promoted, could be the kind of package that would be worth a few bob.

My guess is Ashley primary interest is CCFC with the stadium and he will pretend to be interested in Wasps to secure the deal.
The NEC deal would not include Wasps, which makes it less attractive to the egg chasers.
Once Ashley has secured stadium & CCFC he will shut Wasps down, as there is no money in rugby.

“A chance he could take us on at some point” is miles away from us being his main end goal.
