Out of interest what problem do people have with Mike Ashley? Always felt that he supplied middle of the road premier league funding to a club who's fans thought they should be trying to bankroll a title charge?

I've seen his personal character questioned but don't know anything about that...

He never tried to turn them into the Newcastle Magpies or turn their kit into a giant sports direct discount barcode or any of that bollocks did he?

Would you be happy if new owners bought us and Wasps and:

Good try Cllr Maton, you've excelled yourself!

As Ashley is a very good business person.

Imagine if the reason he could not get the bond refinancing done in time. Was actually to get them in to admin to buy on the cheap.

I think it's more likely that Wasps become "sky blue wasps" and are semi-professional team in the Championship. CCFC stays the same.

Is it likely he's just looking at the CBS and the franchise?

It would be a bit a 'fuck you' moment to the actual city's rugby team.

People have bought into the Newcastle opinion - they’re a club who have a high delusion of grandeur, they’re like Liverpool fans without the illustrious history to back it up.

he doesn’t spend any money is the general gist of it - they ignore the 40m spent on Joelinton and 20 odd on Saint Maximin.

he won’t break the bank - but he’s sees the benefit of being in the prem

Sure he's doing some form of due diligene after getting burnt when he bought Newcastle.
But he made good money through buying and selling Newcastle - made about 160 million plus getting his loans back.
We don't have the Newcastle fanbase but I'm sure he wouldbe confident of turning us around and making a future profit even if it's not on a Newcastle scale

Ex-Newcastle owner Mike Ashley held talks with Wasps about takeover

Former Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has held talks with Wasps about a potential takeover as the debt-ridden club battle for their survival. Ashley is understood to have signed a Head of Terms.

He did attempt to change SJP into the sports direct stadium though, not that we would be bothered by that here.

It sounds to me like he'd get Wasps with a view to looking at buying CCFC at some point in the future - i'd rather he was speaking to SISU rather than the Council about buying us.

To me it looks like he’s getting all chips in play. Unfortunately that may include wasps as an add on. If the council are ok to assign the lease to him, then it deffo brings the club in play.

The local media should be pressing SISU on why they aren't trying to buy the stadium if it is available. Don't give them the chance to say 'we didn't know it was up for sale' and keep claiming they're building a new stadium when someone else buys it.

I would think it would also be cheaper to buy the CBS then Build a whole new ground and infrastructure needed.
People moan about getting to the ground now imagine it at Warwick Uni be a nightmare.
I live 5 mins away from the uni some days its like the M25.

I mean this season appears to be the most disconnected for years. I’m hopeful they’re in the “we’re fucking off - so we’re not spending another penny” stage

Who's going to offer the most then .
I don't believe it will be £50-£60M.
How long can they drag it out?

Does that mean that CCC can sell the freehold to NEC, and fuck both Wasps and CCFC off for the money??
It wouldn't surprise me, those feckers would double cross their own family

Would be the long lease not the freehold for the same reasons it was before I’d imagine. Even if it was the freehold you can’t just kick out tenants with a valid lease.

You might be thinking of Birmingham Council, they owned the NEC but they needed money after they lost a court case about underpaying female employees and it was sold of to cover the cost of that.

It was as slowpoke stated.
The option was there to be in on it at the outset in the 70's but CCC passed on it.

Guy on drunken wasps -now worried about Ashley because they’d be a side project and renting off CCFC….

if we take what they’ve been saying, surely they should just be happy and grateful that they’re allowed to rent off us.

Just not been run properly by the various guises of ACL - CCFC, CCC and Wasps.
Even SISU realized they had to bring in someone to run the non-football side when they were looking for an events partner as part of their plans pre-Wasps.

The issue from the start has always been the massive debt that's always been there.

I also like the realisation that nobody wants Wasps per se… they want the stadium all because we’re the real prize
