We could easily have a mutually beneficial relationship between stadium owner and club, as long as said stadium owner doesn't let the cockroaches back in. Ideally we'd own both but these arrangements don't need to he as hideous as ours has been.

That is a clearly inferior option to just having the same stadium and club owner who we know has experience of running a football club and is capable of providing his own capital. Maybe Ashley wanted 100% of the club, maybe he really was never interested.

Wow. Never a dull moment. Firstly, sounds like fantastic news. Very strange timing though. Negotiations would’ve been going on for ages, if so, why wasn’t it wrapped up in time to get a decent bid in on the stadium ?!

Tomorrow becomes even more interesting !

Well the timing is clearly to throw off Ashley at the last minute

If we still end up selling Vic, Cal or Gus, I'll be really pissed off.

The timing of this deal seems somewhat contrived. I can't see how this stops MA acquiring the stadium tomorrow.
If that's the case, then will Dough King remain interested in buying 85% of a club with no assets part from the players?

Agreed. Strange as in surely this could’ve been completed sooner to allow a bid for the stadium prior to preferred bidder status ?!

I guess this could possibly influence courts decision tomorrow although depends on what’s being put on the table

It's a very big gamble that Ashley won't carry on regardless. If he does, what next? Get into a bidding war with a billionaire?

Ideal scenario. This forces Ashley to give up on ground. Council devastated and have to give the ground to Doug.

Worst case. Ashley gets ground and Doug pulls out of club deal

If Doug decides to sell back to Sisu they wouldn't get EFL approval surely so that would stop that conspiracy

What if this rather obscure Doug King has been manoeuvred in position to secure Joy a 15% stake in the event of MA bidding for or buying the club, does securing that matter who owns the other 85%

It would look a lot more like a direct challenge to Ashley with the club staying in Coventry being used as a bargaining chip.

Could this all be a ruse to try to put pressure on MA to make an offer for the club as well as the stadium?

'Local' businessman...who no one in Coventry has heard of lol.
Seemingly a Stratford based commodities trader and oilseed processor via his company Yelo, and partner in an investment firm...who knew ?
Have to admit, i did think SISU woudn't go completely - they clearly think there is money to be made in the future, but they don't have the investment moolah, so they sell for less than they want, and keep a % in case the new owner hits the premier league jackpot...then cash out.
I did think they would do a deal with Mike Ashley though, so this new bloke is a complete left field late entry.
Unless this guy already knows Mike Ashley of course ??

Well this King bid is subject to EFL approval one of their stipulations is a ten year guarantee of where home games are played. Not sure if sisu or this King bloke can guarantee that unless they get the ground that is.

The requirements for the EFL are basically....."proof of funds" + "no unspent convictions". However, the 10m year guarantee is a stumbling block, as King can't guarantee that.....at the moment & if MA secures the arena tomorrow, then it's outside of Kings control.

That said I don't see how the EFL can block a transfer of shares in what is ultimately a private business. Rather than work with Ashley to get still probably a pretty good pay off, they decide to try some left field shithousing to beat him to the punch.

As I said-even when they finally agree to piss off, they can't do it right.

Gilbert inferring that...
Bondholders are looking at having representation in court tomorrow.
If they manage to delay the hearing, then exclusivity ends.
Although that would not be without consequence for ACL - currently costing 0.5m a month to operate.

Is Doug funding the bondholders representative and trying to de-rail the prepack ?

It’s amazing how so many on here managed to convince themselves that Ashley was really only interested in and buying us.

There was always going to be a last minute curve ball and I’m sure Ashley expected one. What happens if the judge rules in favour of the preferred bidder tomorrow, where does all this go then.
Does that mean Ashley owns the stadium.

What I find astonishing is that 40% of people hate Bounty bars, but it just goes to prove that 40% of people are cunts.
