Wonder if the people handing out the loans have links to the teams or people running them...

Saying that, the council wanted to bail them out as well.

Worcester Warriors have just confirmed they'll take part in the Championship next season. Amongst those announcing the news were Chris Holland and Stephen Vaughan.

Am I right in recalling that they were both involved with the parasites?

The text of their press conference today says "After careful consideration we chose to make the application to the new league under the name Worcester Warriors to preserve its history and legacy. As a result, we are required to settle rugby creditors and acknowledge and fully own this process and the responsibility that comes with it".

So why didn't they do that with the parasites? Less debt to pay off at Worcester?

TBF to both of them I don't think they were involved in Wasps' tenure at the Arena from the inception of it. Holland became a director of WHL from 2017 and Vaughan was CEO from 2019.

Bet they end up playing in black and yellow and calling themselves Worcester Wasps one day.
I give them 5 years tops until they fold again. If they get promoted then rugby will have finally f*****d itself right over .

Had a look on the old Wasps forum. There's people on there saying this is a good thing because the Championship is below them and they will come back in at a higher level

It’s that caveat that they have to pay some debts back that’s probably getting wasps…. It’s outrageous that they should be made to do that

The demise of rugby continues in its heartland. Unthinkable that Cardiff might not have a major side ...

Cardiff head into administration with WRU set for takeover

Cardiff Rugby will declare their intention to go into administration with the Welsh Rugby Union in line for a takeover of the regional side.

Isn't that the league Wasps fans were suggesting they should join instead of the Premiership as it was better run and didn't have teams on the verge of going bust!

Just goes to show the breadth of their delusion!
I suspect Cardiff are skint from having to fly to South Africa all time, to take part in matches in a European league!!!

Rugby’s issue is the constant desire to “grow the game”.

They need to accept they’re a second rate sport here and the majority of people interested just want to watch six nations with a pint.

The people running it think there a few genius tweaks from a billion quid tv deal when in reality they’re one step up from ice hockey.

British ice hockey has had its fair share of financial issues, teams going bust and dodgy owners in the past, but it looks like a fairly stable sport compared to rugby union these days.

Some EIHL teams are getting bigger crowds than Premiership rugby teams too.

Didn't the WRU create the regional based teams to create a competition they could play in or was it also done at the same time as the regionalised Scottish teams? I always think it is sad that some of the great Welsh club sides like Llanelli, Pontypridd & Pontypool have disappeared & the impact that will have had on those towns.

Agreed.
I'll be up the Butts on Saturday though as it's an enjoyable game with a paying crowd.

I've never met anyone up there with pretensions that CRFC (second tier nationally) are as big a draw as CCFC (second tier nationally).

It's a good day out of decent level live sport when there's no football on.

Bridgend and Neath too. Should of kept the mixed leagues. Cov v Cardiff, Neath etc in a league would be a good money spinner. Wales isn't big enough to be on its own

"Club rugby" before the professional era used to be massive and much more entertaining than the "avoid losing at all costs" style we see today.

Always been a delusion about how popular the game is and an assumption that if you make a sport professional that money can "force" growth and appeal. Two clubs cover the north of England and can't get gates of over 10k. Is it just 2 clubs covering London?
