That's your choice ... plenty of SBT members have dropped into Wasps forums either to talk rationally or to stir things up ....... I fully understand that many here are skeptical of anyone coming here to talk ...... it certainly wasn't to stir anything other than try to have an adult conversation with some of you, like any forum on any topic some people are incapable of an adult conversation when they are behind a keyboard , that's life !

When will your adult conversation start though? At least be half clued up about the situation.

You could say that about any sport that isnt as popular as football ..... the reality is its popular amongst the people who are interested, its just happens to be less ...... is that a bad thing ?

In an era when it has gone professional, is nearly completely reliant on TV income and there are salaries to pay then the number of people interested is crucial surely?

Ironically again you go for the intelligence argument, whilst showing you know nothing about the situation. The fact you think there are 8k core fans at Wasps says it all.

Not sure where I said there where 8k core supporters ......... it was a figure quoted by a member of your own forum.

As for intelligence ....... some of the posts speak for themselves .... no need for me to point anything out

Of course the number of people interested is crucial ........ my point being is that its compared on here against football gates and interest ..... which has no bearing on how successful rugby is.

Some people can't even construct sentences.

Others struggle to research the very basics of the points they are attempting to discuss.

In some cases this is the same person.

It's a fair point, I don't know much about Wasps finances prior to their (latest...) move.

One thing that's always intrigued me is how everyone on DrunkenWasps/OnceAWasp seems to blindly agree with whatever the Wasps hierarchy say.

The forums are not necessarily a representative view of the majority ........... much like a couple of hundred posters on here are not necessarily representative of CCFC supporters or residents of Coventry.

Don't you think it's a convenient line to say; 'we had to move to Cov otherwise we'd have been liquidated' when you're going to up sticks (again...)? Also we know from court documents that the previous Wasps owner was talking to CCC about a move to the Ricoh years before you left Wycombe...

One thing is certain and documented is the club was just shy of extinction, the move to Cov was a solution/option offered by Richardson, of course there are potentially other options, many have been discussed endlessly on here and elsewhere but were they viable options ?, reality is you or I will never know.

I tried to start one asking you about the move Wasps turned down back towards London, which you weren't aware of.

You are trying to have the same conversations had in about 2016. The only thing now is that you can't fill the ground with freebies and haven't paid the bonds.

The rest of the "we had no choice" is absolutely identical.

You're losing more money now than at Wycombe so in theory the move was pointless, Richardson is a property developer which is why Coventry Council wanted him here, unfortunately for him his money is running out fast.

Ah, so the majority of Wasps supporters do think Richardson/Eastwood are shysters and don't believe a word they spout?

Were you just shy of extinction when you moved to Loftus Road, Adams Park and then the Ricoh?! This time next year we'll be the biggest team in Europe Rodney...

Well I’ve shown links to accounts which show the business is a basket case and going backwards - clear proof a huge swell of tickets are free and the revenue is less on the rugby side than when at Wycombe. You don’t see interest in much of that - the general feedback you get on the forums is “we are growing as a business” which is just rubbish

Mate, citys support had a line in song that said fuck the Wasps, they are almost universally hated among Citys support.
You're right, this forum doesn't reflect the majority view on many, many issues.

But the subject of Wasps is one of the few where there is almost consensus among the support.

Senior Wasps figures buy proposed housing land near training base

Wasps owner Derek Richardson and group chief executive David Armstrong are directors of a firm that has bought land next to the Alan Higgs Centre

I dont need to research gossip and speculation plenty on here ....... I generally stick to facts ..... there is nothing factual about a move being turned down ..... otherwise you would happily point me to it.

It was said he was a property developer and that's why the council wanted him in Cov ....... inferring he was a developer before he came, what property development did he do before the move ? Im genuinely interested to know ...... I know what he's done since the move.

If you don't think Wasps are vilified in Cov you're mistaken

I've seen people heckled in the street for wearing that yellow and black shit

I went Ricoh Tesco on a Wasps matchday (wouldn't even known it was as it was so empty) and people were openly mocking those few attending

a solid 95% of this city absolutely detest what your club is, what they've done, and how they've done it. If you really don't think that's the case i don't even know what to say anymore

Wasps potential to move elsewhere in London/SE was being discussed a long time ago...

Wasps linked again to Olympic Stadium move

London Wasps could yet link up with Leyton Orient FC as co-tenants of London's Olympic Stadium after the 2012 Games.
www.espn.co.uk

So let's be adults; the only reason Wasps (self-branded, remember, as London Wasps), moved to Coventry is that they got a knock-down price on the stadium.

They didn't care about their London based supporters, or the impact on the football club or rugby club that were already in Coventry. Their actions then and since have clearly demonstrated that.

Strangely enough, a lot of people here, a fair number of neutrals, and a good proportion of London Wasps supporters, didn't consider that ethical, and still don't.

And it turns out it wasn't even about survival, the stated plan was to become the richest club in the world...

Wasps to become richest rugby club in the world, says chief

Wasps announce plans for a £35m bond and say they are on course to become the richest rugby club in the world.
www.bbc.co.uk

So if you're seeing a certain amount of pleasure here in their current struggles, and you don't understand it, then I don't think you've really understood the history.

As for their ultimate survival in Coventry, I'll guess we'll see; but the lack of accounts for ACL, the failure to refinance the bond, the sale of future profits to CVC, and the general lack of interest from the local public, must set off some warning bells surely? Regardless of your ethical standards, they are all facts beyond denial.

Not sure that's the case. My work does, or at least did pre-pandemic, take me to many workplaces around the city and its rare to find a positive word about Wasps being in the city.

In fact I've only met two people who regularly go to games. One was an old Welsh chap who loved rugby and would happily take advantage of free tickets, also attended CRFC, and was very much of the option Wasps shouldn't be here and CCFC were shafted by the council, the other was a chap who would recite Wasps PR bull unquestioned.

Don't care was really the best case scenario for Wasps, in my experience most peoples option range from shouldn't be here to outright hatred.

I think there's a difference between people not being interested in going to watch them play or not being interested in Wasps in general, versus 95% of the population despising Wasps ...... reality is its hard to quantify .... certainly a few thousand interested enough to take the free tickets !

You appear to be ignoring posters who are linking to factual articles and getting hung up on '8k crowd' and '95%' estimates.
