when I used to play in cold weather,it was a swine to undo your laces after games.so fingerless gloves are acceptable imo.

You're not trying to convince us that you are the real Bob Latchford by any chance?

Players doing anything to keep warm is fine. The more comfortable they are, the more likely they are to play better.

If he carries on scoring, he can wear a full woolly burka for all I care.

It's hardly a guarantee of course, otherwise Leon Barnett would have turned up in long johns and a puffa coat.

I love it when people get sore about this. I used to wear gloves, full length under armour tights and top. I can't stand the cold.
Saying that it's strictly a no jacket situation for the pub.

Completely acceptable, if something keeps you comfortable, doesn't lower movement in anyway (relevant to the game) then it's helpful as it removes a potential distraction and it's a good thing.

The wooly gloves are a secret "come and get me" sign to agents - happened to Best, King and Jukiewicz - believe me, he was letting on to them he is available.

I'd love to know who started the trend of wearing gloves ?
Some softie no doubt, but if Clarke continues to bang in the goals who really cares ?

A smart chap with cold hands who saw a way to warm them up without worrying about machismo probably.

I recall seeing Merson playing for Arsenal at Highfield Road wearing gloves, and he got plenty of stick for it.
But in that game he scored the winner right on full time so he had the last laugh.

In my (much earlier) 11-a-side playing days we once had a manager who wouldn't even let us wear a vest under our kit. Even worse, we had the thinnest short-sleeves-only shirts that year. Tough season.

I probably mocked those who wore gloves - I definitely hammered anyone who wore coloured boots.

Nowadays, being a bit older, I've got an ankle support for my dodgy achilles, a knee brace for my grinding cartilage, and thermal shorts for my semi-permanent groin strain (ahem). I've even had to buy some white boots 'cos I couldn't find any respectable black ones!

Before I play five-a-side I need a bath in Deep Heat to warm up, and afterwards I have to apply WD-40 to any joint that I don't want to seize solid.

I always wear gloves.

I admire your honesty !As I'm a Window Cleaner I can't wear gloves to do my job,but worked once with a chap who in winter wore Marigold gloves to clean windows, the ones used for washing up.they were black and not bright yellow !
I don't bother myself but he said he felt comfortable wearing them.
