As has been rumoured for a while Ashley Giles has left Lancashire to take charge at Warwick. Great appointment and hopefully things will turn around. Seems to be a bit of a mess at the moment with a poor season and players leaving.

His new role is odd it's overseeing 1st team, academy & women's side.

So Troughton will effectively be the 1st team coach and report to Giles.

Shake up was needed though 2 new batman needed urgently an opener is an absolute must!

But fantastic to have Giles back on board!!

Just a couple of batsman required as has been said as the tail can't keep bailing them out, Bell and Trott need to show their quality, also need a another good overseas for the 20/20

I feel if Trott doesn't find some decent form next season that may be the end of his career. Bell will keep ticking away for another 2/3 years.
It'll be Westwood's final year before he retires to umpire.
Porterfield has never cut it in div 1 4 day stuff.
A lot of pressure on Sam Hain to really perform and then that leaves youngsters like Umeed and Lamb.

Agree on Trott and Bell.

I can't see hey porterfield and Rankin are kept on.

Didn't know that was Westwoods plan.

They just need an experienced opener in the mould of Varun Chopra.

Keaton Jennings was the man they expected to replace Chopra but he turned the Bears down (now well on the England radar so may not have played much) & by that point Stoneman a more than probable target had joined Surrey.

Think staying up will be the aim next season.

Really need to start producing some more decent kids look at Worcestershire they're just producing talent after talent at the minute.

You need players that aren't quite good enough to be internationals as you get them all season, it is lucky for Durham they went down as they look very weak without Jennings and the players that have left.

The bears do need to start producing the young players as the side is old, will be interesting to see how Olly Stone goes as well.

Freak and nasty injury, bit of a gamble and hopefully he fully recovers.

Only seen him bowl 2-3 times on TV hits 90mph on his day so that could be something to look forward to!

Didn't they occasionally play at the old Courtaults ground? I'm sure my Dad used to go see them play there.

And more recently Cov & Warks. They only play at Edgbaston these days. Don't think that was the best decision but with all the money they've had to put in to development to keep tests they need to use it as much as possible.

They last played outside edgbaston v Hamps about 04ish? At Stratford (Hampshire side containing KP & Warne) I went on day 2 and the game was all over by tea on the 2nd day, Warwickshire won by 10 wickets cost the club thousands and I think after that they decided away from playing 4 day games from edgbaston.
Last couple of years they've played 50 over games at Rugby school.

Think they used Stratford for a bit after Cov & Warks. I'd have them playing several county championship games at various places. There's only ever a handful of people at Edgbaston for them but when they used to play elsewhere they'd be packed as people would take a day off work.

Was the wicket bad, they wouldn't want to play at Griff now it's a dump I had a game there last year and the wicket is not brilliant no better than ours at Pauls Land.

They should do one game away from Edgbaston to allow the out of towners a better chance to go.

Can't remember to be honest but mustn't have been in any great nick for the game to be over so quickly.

Ideally they need a game to
Go for 4 days to cover costs etc insure Cov and North Warwick or Kenilworth Wardens etc could produce a road and it has the space for temp stand and a few corporate tents

I saw a Donald bowl in a NatWest semi final in the 90's might have been against Northants I was behind the keeper as his arm came over you could see nothing and waited for the thud into Pipers gloves.

Hell of a player he was. Wonder what he's up to these days. Haven't heard of him coaching and he doesn't seem to make any media appearances.
