They should send it to their followers in Birmingham that is not a name I recognise they should save the silly names for the silly hundred ball game.

When graham welch gets hold of them he tends to find a bit more as well.

Players are pushed too early when their bodies aren’t physically able to cope. Gym work won’t help as their skeletons aren’t fully formed and too much muscles will cause problems with backs etc

Happened to me, my employer thought put the younger ones on the heavy jobs .Broke my back and still knackered now 25 years later (it's why i moved to a warmer climate). Bodies need time to grow naturally, a bit of help is good but they still need natural growth as far as poss.

Ben Raine from Leicestershire looks like he’s joining too (apparently subject to Warwickshire being promoted), bowling all rounder scored a ton v Bears in 2020 at Edgbaston couple of weeks ago.

Zak Chappell who Warwickshire have been after for the last year has gone to Notts (shock) instead from Leicester, IMO he’s head and shoulders above Norwell and Raine from what I’ve seen and already talked about as a possible international player.

Played champ game at start of the season then don’t think he’s played red ball since.

struggling to follow recent recruitment policy.
seems to be players who can do a bit in all forms of the game rather than being strong in one particular facet (red ball or white ball)
Bring in Sibley a middle order batsman (averaging under 30 in over 40 CC games) and try and convert him into an opener - now averaging under 20. Not sure how much opening Rhodes had done either.
Hose is supposed to be what exactly? - white ball specialist?
Norwell & Raine do seem to be wicket takers at this level.
Batting cover would seem to be the important issue. A proper opener and someone to try and fill Trott's shoes.

There seems to be a shortage of openers in the country, I think the Warwick squad is to big and players just disappear like Umeed and Hose.

I don’t think either Sibley or Rhodes have opened before signing but iss would be better to confirm

Seems the days of getting experienced big name signings are gone and it’s almost a case of identifying potential talent from other counties, promising them game time and hoping they will turn out above average.

Sibley and Hose I was hopeful on Rhodes not so much yet he’s the 1 of the 3 who’s been better than average so far.

Sibley was an opener at Surrey scored a double ton v Yorkshire at 18 2nd youngest behind WG Grace or something like that.

Rhodes I’m not sure don’t think he has but he hadn’t played much was more bat 7/8, 5th choice bowler.

Desperately crying out for a couple of batsmen, Trott going and Bell probably year or so behind, ideally need somebody late 20’s with a solid first class career behind them. Shame Madsen at Derby isn’t 5/6 years younger he’d be ideal for the middle order.

Opening wise they need to invest, lost Chopra and it’s all been downhill since!

I agree. Too many players and spread across too many formats of the game. Over rotation particularly in CC. you'd think there would be a 1stXI that only altered slightly for pitch conditions etc.

Barker not playing white ball for last few years is a joke, got probably the most control with the ball out of all the bowlers!

Don't get that. Was playing well (from memory) then just seemed to drop out of the picture after an injury lay-off Can throw the bat as well.

Yes he has.

Awful decision to let him go, been really under used at Warwickshire!

Rightly so, leggies are rare as rocking horse shit, Patel has a couple of years left and there doesn’t appear to be a better spinner coming through.

Genuinely an atrocious decision.

I see Jordan Clark from lancs has chosen Surrey over Warwickshire and the Bears are at the back of the queue for seamer Richard Gleason from Northants

Yes just read that again they seem to going for quantity over quality, but I guess they are worried that when both fit Stone and Brookes will be interesting the selectors.

Glad Clark has gone to Surrey his record is modest at best and he won’t improve his bowling average there

Always scores tons, another error in letting a youngester go by not playing him!

Anyway ‘Birmingham’ are done and dusted for another year and out in the groups!

Back to Warwickshire for the remainder of the season!

How long was the deal with Birmingham Council for them to be named Birmingham? The sooner its changed back the better as far as I'm concerned.

The new competition is supposed to be city based, Will they want there to be 2 Birmingham teams or will that prompt a change?

I want to say there wasn’t an end date.

But I guess when the city based comes in they’ll drop it back to Warwickshire.

I don’t buy into nor will support the franchise crap but if they’ve got sense it’ll ‘Midlands (insert silly nickname here)’ to be more inclusive
