And then everyone would have said typical SP never says it as it is he can't win really can he.

Come on SP stick it too um I say.
I'm glad he did it shows balls just like most managers people would like to see here.

I do think there's a middle ground.

Saying players are gone, forever is... brave. I'm sure some do need a kick up the backside, and am also sure some respond better to an arm round the shoulder.

Once a manager sets on a path of either with him or against him however, it tends to end... badly. That applies in the real world too

It's the bipolar nature of his interviews that concerns as much as anything, from saying how fantastic they all are to... this.

I'm torn (see above). I don't mind him being angry, don't mind him actually caring, this is good.

Once you hang players out to dry though...

And it does seem to happen rather a lot. Bomb squad, and then only so subtle hints having a dig at players (Moussa?) at the end of last season. It has shades of McAllister's management technique, and that didn't go too well either.

Fragment people into factions and cliques, and it needs a really strong man to pull it together again.

We'll see.

He can blame the players all he wants, but the truth is that his tactics suck. Against Worcester, I lost count of the times it was tippy-tappy, followed by poor control, followed by a hoof to Jackson. At five-foot-fuck-all he was never going to win a header. And the midfield was so deep, twenty yards too far back even when we had eleven men. So SP can blame the players all he wants, but until he gets the players to look forward when they have the ball, instead of always going back, then he will get these types of performances.

Well he did say it was the way we just wimped out of it on Sunday.

It was Worcester for gods sake.

He has given this team the benefit of the doubt in the past when I really thought he must have been watching a different game to me.

As was said before...SP really can't win ...the comeback against Posh..the push to grab a point at Orient....SP must have thought we were on the up...and then Sundays load of bollox....all I can see is a bloke that just want 100% effort from his team..and if he feels he doesn't get it...well...he's the boss.

He probably does adopt different approaches to different players....how do we know.

I'm sure its a case of "If the cap fits..wear it"

To be fair he has defended the indefensible on more than one occasion this season and this seems to have been his watershed moment.

Maybe their egos need denting in any job you drop a massive bollock someone's got to be accountable toomany in the comfort zone they've had the arm round the shoulder now the hair dryer I'm sure they'll get over it and if they don't maybe they are not the 1 s for us

It's that bipolar though.

I'm all for standing up for players in public btw, create an us and them mentality, show loyalty... you get loyalty back. So I've never been *as* concerned about his interviews as they tend to be anodine comments anyway, from all managers. He could maybe have been a bit less hyperbolic about previous displays mind you

Must say, this defeat has changed him in many ways. He has grown a pair of bollocks and stopped looking like a homeless man. thumbs up for the haircut SP! Let's hope it changes his current of form. I just hope that if we lose he doesn't go back to praising the effort and desire, great response etc etc. here's to a 5-0 trouncing of those pasty eating fuckers! (No offence intended)

I can appreciate him wanting to keep a positive atmosphere but with some players you just know they will see that as an opportunity to relax and put in half arsed performances. What confuses me is that he knows the character of player he wanted to sign but went ahead and signed players who couldn't be arsed. Either he can't screen the duds properly or he lacks resources to bring in who he actually wants.

I have been assuming what he says in private doesn't always mirror what he says in public!

Indeed. They are now, all his players really, so it's slightly concerning if he signs a bunch of scrounging wasters!
