I thought were fantastic today and have been our best outfield performers this season. Some of the link up play between Dabo and Walsh was great to watch.

Anyway, question is, if we were to be a championship team come the summer, what do you think the chances would be of making either Walsh or O’Hare permanent (I think very low indeed), and what are the chances of retaining Dabo?

Walsh - good chance of signing him if we go up.
Dabo - Same, think we'll keep him if promoted.
O'Hare - no chance

Think we would have much more chance of keeping Walsh than O’Hare. The little wizard is going all the way.

Wonder what Villa would want for O'Hare

None of them look Premiership level, so if we are promoted there is every chance. There could be a wages issue with Walsh. But as Kelly might struggle at the higher level, having Walsh would be handy

Dabo is our player so think we’d retain him if we got promoted.

Walsh, Bristol like him and have a 1 year option in their favour (I believe), so will probably stay with them.

O’Hare is an interesting one. Dependent on if Villa getting relegated or not. Stay up, Grealish stays and they’ll have to strengthen for 20/21. O’Hare probably unlikely to earn a new contract. Relegation, Grealish will leave and there’s a space for him in the Villa squad to rebuild.

I agree they are three key players. It might seem strange classing O’Hare in that category as he isn’t always a starter but his ability to change games is significant. With more experience he’ll definitely become one be it here or elsewhere.

Dabo - definitely stay. Even if we don’t go up I think there’s an outside chance he would, dependent on who was interested.

Walsh - Bristol had concerns about him when without the ball. So depends if they think he’s improved that aspect (I’d say he has) as there may be a chance if not. If Bristol were promoted I think getting him back on loan would be likely.

O’Hare - very well thought of at Villa, so I’d guess another loan would be possible as long as we are promoted and Villa stay up.

Of the three I’d be least concerned about O’Hare, as he’s the most replaceable. While he’s a game changer, other players with that attribute and ability do exist. Ideal world though we keep all three as part of our Championship squad.

Robins will add to the squad for certain trouble with loanees apart from their parent club others will have taken note as we saw last season with Bright and Luke Thomas. MR will have done his homework but a lot will depend what division we are in and possibly our ground situation.

His Villa contract is up in the summer. Apparently they will look to keep him if they get relegated

Heard from a reliable source that we are already enquiring about signing Walsh permanently in the summer. No surprise really,it’s just a case of whether we can pull it off or not.

If we are still playing at St Andrews no chance of signing either

Signing O'hare on a free would be some business. Walsh I imagine they'd want £1.5-2m? He obviously doesn't feature in their plans

With regards to retaining Walsh and O’Hare I think a lot depends on where Bristol and Villa end up next season. The ideal would be if Bristol achieved promotion and Villa stayed up. However, IMO both are looking unlikely. And tbf even if it didn’t, there’s the obstacle of a transfer fee - which we’d only be able to pay if we were back at the Ricoh. Otherwise acquiring both or either would be an impossibility.

Walsh is out of contract in the summer. If they offer him a contract then we'd have to pay a small amount as he'll just be within age for a compulsory training fee.

Walsh is on a renewable extension which their manager says he will trigger

Dabo was linking up with westbrooke on the rhs yesterday brilliantly. Westbrooke very underrated.

Incredible the options MR has in midfield.

Allen didn't even get on the pitch.

Westbrooke has already done more this season in league 1 , than Bayliss did last season in league 1.

Bayliss was massively over rated on here Westbrooke & Shipley have done a hell of a lot more than he did at league 1 level

I think we assume the loans will not be here beyond this season. Walsh and ohare have been fabulous. Giles may well have the same impact

he’s only hot one year left on a contract there so there’s little point in loaning him again

The fee would probably be less the problem will be wages Bristol are likely to be paying a lot more than we can offer

If we can’t compete with wages let’s throw the towel in now. Championship players will want championship wages and you can’t have players valued a million here and a million there and pay lower league wages. If sisu can’t get that sell us.

Bristol City have Szmodics out on loan at posh too. What a phenomena player he is. Scoring goals for fun since January.

How good is their midfield when 2 players of Walsh and Sczmodocs ability out on loan.
