Walsall fan here. Looking forward to tomorrow. Both sides have hit a bit of form of late and are looking upwards rather than at the gloomy prospect of hitting the fourth division. We're beginning to gel a bit after losing virtually the entire team who got us within a point of automatic promotion last year. No complaints about that. Our planets align about once a decade to have a decent tilt at second tier football and last year was that year.

Couple of your ex-players in our ranks this year. Simeon Jackson who has had a decent knack so far of popping up with tap-ins and Franck Moussa who is getting fitter and stronger each week and has also weighed in with a couple of goals.

Looks like you've sold 1,500 which will be the first time you haven't made it 'round the corner (i.e you will all be accommodated behind the goal) since you fell to this level. We'll have around 5,250 there so not a bad crowd (for us) but one that reflects both sides' pretty average start to the season.

Hi Swift. good of you to pop over. I am expecting a good game tomorrow, both teams finding a bit of form as you say. Love Franck sorry that we lost him. Whatever the result you have a good day.

The ref will be Dean Whitestone who is based in Northamptonshire. He has so far this season issued 42 cautions but no reds.

I didn't know who the referee was going to be but I hope he has a good game. He sounds as though he has a fair record. We do seem to struggle with referees decisions. Perhaps I am so used to disappointment that when we start to win I imagine all kinds of horrors to thwart the revival. Let me be positive for a change. We have a fabulous game. Mr Whitestone has a blinder and we win 2 nil. How does that sound? . .

Standard of officiating is shocking, absolutely shocking at this level and it is getting worse. I don't think there are any cheats, just games when their incompetence randomly swings 80/20 in one direction on the handful of big decisions.
A pattern that seems to have emerged is a first 30 minutes where anything, short of knife crime goes and a last 30 minutes where the ref deals cards like an enthusiastic casino croupier.

They'll let us play some football and we will win 3-1.

Was just going to put a 3 v 1 win, two for Sordell and one for Jones

I admit to admiring your optimism. Despite everything you are always there.
I also think you are right - that we will come good and be nowhere near relegation at the end of the season.

I'd take a draw right now but a win would be a massive bonus

Well for comments like below from their forum I hope we stuff them. Was at the game last season when they knobbled madders in the first 20 minutes and the ref was dressed in red so lets hope we can pay them back. I also remember some of their fans being very vocal about the ricoh mess saying we were a load of cheats or something

Always a entertaining game vs the sky blues even though they've won the last 2 I won't let that cloud my judgement Coventry are a mess of a football club and are a poor team we are a better side in every department,
2-0 Walsall win, Att:7,050 1,700 cov fan's.

Coventry at home was one of our best performances last season, and I think the 2-1 scoreline (hope my powers are recall are better on this match thread
) absolutely flattered Coventry. They tried to match our passing game last term, and if they make that mistake again they could again be in for a tough time. Narrow win for the Saddlers, and about time for a decent headed goal? For us I mean.

One of my favourite games last season was when we beat them at our place when about 3000 of them were singing about being top of the league, then they had a nosebleed half way through the season. The atmosphere at their place was great too under SOD.

Would be happy with a draw.

I think we will sneak a 1-0 smash and grab win, with a late goal. I think Reid will start with Rose on the bench. Whatever happened to Vlad, is he injured or out of favour?

Hope you are right about the result (don't care about the score!) I was wondering about Vlad too - seems to have fallen out of favour after promising early signs. Would like to see somebody who can thread in our big ugly brutes up front. Just hope we get the combination right today.

Ive got feeling we will get a win. The defence has been looking better recently so im hoping for a clean sheet. The attack has been improving steadily making me pretty confident we can get one in the other end. Finger crossed hey!

Who does everybody think will come in for McCann? I think it will be Reid to start with Rose coming on in the second half.

I'd personally put Ruben in his number 10 role if we won't play 2 out and out strikers

Whilst Id prefer Sordell to join Agyei or Wright (who ever is selected) I can't see Venus doing that. Then bring Rose in for McCann.

Vlad has been very disappointing and unless being dropped has given him a kick up the arse he needed, I think Rose will offer us more

I think we need to give Vlad time to settle not sure on the standard of football he has come from, might take him 12 months to get used to things

Wish I had the same feeling.

Let's not let a couple of decent wins mask the fact that we still struggle with the physical aspects of this league and losing McCann doesn't help us at all in that regard.

I recall last season when we lost at Walsall fans were saying they out muscled us and out played us.

Just wonder how physical Walsall will be today.

A draw would be great.

Seems to be key. The refs are useless and don't give our kids any protection so if the opposition start flying in and get away with it our game plan goes out the window.

Is Sordell in a wide right role again? He really isn't a winger and has looked uncomfortable every time he's been there.

I hate to be a moany twat but am I the only person that thinks bar that one goal last season Rose has been distinctly average for us?

I haven't really seen enough of rose yet to judge him but with his height and engine he could complement bigi and Stevenson. You would wonder if he's fully recovered from injury after being out so long

Sordell isn't a winger but he's not doing that bad is he in reality?

I'd prefer him to be central in a to two but it's clear we aren't going to see that sadly
