So how is going for 22 yr old Tyler Walker, who scored goals for Mansfield, any different to last year signing 21yr old Conor Chaplin, who scored goals for Pompey?
if we do get him, how long before some on here are calling him shite?

Because walker has experience in the championship and in my opinion is better suited to our style

Take a look at the type of goals that Tyler scored last season for Mansfield, albeit League Two. It's the type of striker we could have done with last season given the amount of chances we often created. I was reading the Mansfield forum a couple of weeks back and think they mentioned he's pretty handy with the ball at his feet too, sounds like a decent football player.

Thought this myself after watching his goals last season,a real poacher/finisher.

Just asked Jimmy McNulty on twitter, fair play to him he responded quite quickly, sparky coming back is just paper talk so we can put that one to bed

McNulty, how can you choose a player you've ,(mostly) never seen play against one you've seen score nearly 30 times

They’re both unproven in league one, and they both scored 20+ in league two. Walker is much younger and has a higher ceiling value, they’re both as big a gamble as each other really.

I haven't seen Walker play to know if he will fit into our system or not.

Well he can score goals and play as a lone striker so on that basis alone he is an improvement on Chaplin

It's quite simple really,
Do we stick with a striker who isn't scoring goals, struggles to get in the starting line up, and doesn't suit the way we want to play,
Or, do we cash in on him and bring in a different type of striker who MAY fit in with our system better?
Theres no guarantee of success of course, but doing nothing is a sure fire way of guaranteeing failure.

McNulty can't play as a lone striker, and I wouldn't want us to go back to 4-4-2 to fit him in. Our current formation looks so dangerous going forward, we create so many chances, just the final ball let us down last season really. I've never saw Walker play, but from his highlights, he looks like someone who could be useful for us. Hopefully the new wingers and Allen can chip in with a few more goals as well.

I think once the squad is back from Spain we will see movement here,I feel as soon as robins gets one of the strikers he wants Chaplin will be gone Barnsley’s offer will still be on table I’m certain Chaplin will leave.
