"I've been looking at the stats and we're currently top of the table for clean sheets, but bottom of the table for scoring, "

er, neither of those facts are correct...

Waggott quote "But we've got to get through this season so that come the summer we're ready and looking to bring in the right type of player."

So what were you doing last season Mr Waggott?

How has this man got into the position he is in? He seems from the bit I can find on his background a self appointed knowledge of football with not a lot to back it up. Until 2004 he was a director at London Leisure College and then became chief exec of the Charlton community trust for four years and then got the job as club chief exec at Charlton then came here.

That's a terrible article, back to square one might be ok if we were actually putting something in place that we could build on for next season but we arn't, it's all short term contracts and loans and so next season we'll be back to square one again, only perhaps not even in this division. I find it amusing that he thinks it's the rational position to take to hope it can only get better, that doesn't sound at all rational to me. being cheery and hoping that it can only get better is the complete opposite of rational, it goes against the evidence, nothing wrong with optimisim (though at some point that I personally belive is long past it becomes delusion) but don't try to make out that is the rational and measured position because it quite clearly isn't.

gotta love the way he just casually adds 3 goals to 3 draws and says well that would be another 9 points (it's 6 more btw andy but that isn't my point).

Yep, I've never got that logic, "if we hadn't conceded", "if we'd scored that chance" we'd have had x many maker points. We did/didn't we got the points that are on the board, and therefore what we deserve.

I mean, we've scored just 1 goal in our last 5 home games Ffs, won just 1 in our last 9 at home. For a ST holder that is deeply depressing.

It looks worse now you have put it like that 1 goal in 5 games and I missed the win!

and it shows doesn't it? There are fans on here with more knowledge than him. Mind you, who does he have to convince? Fisher and Seppala!

But that is ok with wagg n press
Any other industry and they both would have been sacked long ago.

Exactly, my mate who used to work a Tesco got sacked when he lost 7 in a row at home, no wait, that doesn't work.

That would be great if we were actually building a team but we're not, it's pretty much a complete new squad every year. If we could see that we had, for example, 4 or 5 good players under multi-year contract and were just looking to add to that year on year to improve then what Waggott says would make sense. However recent history tells us we will get to the end of the season, lose a huge chunk of the squad and have to start again.

Just read the article and came on here to post exactly the same thing.

What a moron if he can't even get the stats right. How could you possibly even think we have kept the most clean sheets.

Sheez, says it all really!

COVENTRY AFTER 'DIFFERENCE MAKER'
Coventry City chief executive Steve Waggott says the club are trying to bring in a player who could make ‘a real difference’.
Speaking to the Coventry Observer, Waggott said: "We've been looking at a player who could make a real difference to the side and hopefully we can get the deal over the line. We're looking at bringing in a young player who is already knocking on the door for first team football - someone who is desperate to be given an opportunity and will bring lots of energy to the side.
"Ideally we'd like to bring in two or three new players. The problem that we've got is it is a difficult market to work in. Lots of other clubs are in the same position as us and are after the same thing.”

for waggott's real statement, read
'i've gotta put out all of this waffle in the hope a few believe me,
because when we don't have enough players i can blame something or someone else'
