I assume it's taken the figures from the last set of accounts, depends on how many players have been signed / new deals agreed but it's probably a good rough estimate. I'd imagine Sunderland's wage bill is higher after promotion than stated here.

Yes but that’s all club wages. We can discount Boddy’s £10m salary from that straight away.

Are there any figures showing how many people we actually have on the payroll?

Considering a football club is a major business, I always think the amount of non playing staff they employ must be fairly small?

Coventry's non playing full time staff is tiny, when I was looking at the accounts albeit y/e 2020, the amount of admin staff was 12!
