Coventry City have moved to ban vuvuzelas from The Ricoh Arena, the club has announced.

Coventry are not the first club to ban the noisy, one note horns, eight other clubs have already done so in the wake of the World Cup in South Africa, where the buzz of the horns drowned out all other noise.

Club officials decided to ban the horns on the grounds of health and safety saying its deafening hum could affect the “comfort and enjoyment” of fans.

City boss Aidy Boothroyd gave said of the decision, “It can add to the atmosphere in the stadium sometimes, but on the other hand the constant din and droning sound can be very annoying. So perhaps it’s a blessing in disguise.”

Arsenal, Tottenham, Birmingham, Sunderland, Everton, West Ham, Bolton and Fulham have all banned the vuvuzela next season and will turn away any fans trying to enter their grounds with one.

Pretty sure they were selling CCFC Vuvuzelas at the club store just a couple of weeks before the season ended

I have read also on the CCFC Website that Coventry may sell instruments like them but smaller in the club shop that will be allowed in. So if you buy them from the club shop it is ok, but anywhere else they are banned.

So the Vuvuzela's have to pass some sort of exam on entry to the Ricoh! To be honest I'm not bothered they are banned. I think it's OK for 1 or 2 people to have them but if everyone started using them it would get annoying.
