Derek McInnes awaits 'developments' in bid to sign Richard Keogh

Bristol City boss Derek McInnes remains guarded over whether Coventry City defender Richard Keogh will return to Ashton Gate this summer.

McInnes's Robins are understood to be competing for the 25-year-old with Championship rivals Cardiff City, who are also reported to have made a bid.

"There's no further developments on that," McInnes told BBC Radio Bristol.

"It's been well documented that he's a player we do like, but he's another club's player at the minute."

Keogh, who can play centre-back or full-back, spent three seasons with Bristol City between 2005 and 2008 before joining Carlisle United.

But McInnes knows that they face competition to ensure his return.

"We're not the only club to show an interest in him," he added.

"Whether we choose to pursue that one remains to be seen. We'll wait and see how things develop."

Relegated Coventry remain under a transfer embargo, the anticipated sale of the League One club having made no further progress.

It does not really say anything does it?

It means they and cardiff have registered their interest, Brizzle probably cant get into a bidding war, so they are awaiting our position changing, then seeing if anybody else comes in with a bid for him.....

Turkeys do not vote for Christmas - why would the SPL clubs vote out their biggest pay day (the Old Firm TV deal and higher gates at Rangers games) by kicking Gers out of the league?

Thinking about it, the SPL is one big turkey...even ROD did OK there!!!
