He's said he's happy but doesn't know what the future holds. That's about the most any professional ever says.

I think he'll go. Mad not to, probably at the peak of his saleability. If he waits another year he'll be 27 and teams like Chelsea won't want to dole out a juicy 7 year contract

This says Arsenal are looking for a wide attacker not a striker. With Chelsea going after Osimhen, any move before deadline looks extremely unlikely now.

I'm also not sure what benefit to him leaving this last minute would have for us. We would have about 12 hours to sort a deal out with the additional funds, and I would imagine we have learned from the Kitching fiasco last year that we don't want to rush our spend (not a slight on Kitching, just believe we overpaid). It would suit us as well / better to him to go early in January (unlikely) or early next summer so we can plan.

I would have thought that a sale in this window would be preferable giving us 4 months to plan ahead. Alternatively we could have a purchase already lined up that could be acted on quickly.

Agree on point 1, but on point 2, if we're just opening negotiations and they know we have a windfall from a large Vik windfall, then we are going to have to pay over and above.

Sporting have drawn Man City and Arsenal at home in the Championsh League. Perfect opportunity for him to put himself in the shop window.

I hope he tears Arsenal to pieces, and shows them up for being foolish and not signing him.... Either that or they decide to unsettle their champions league opponents by bidding his release fee tomorrow before the deadline

Haha. Have just been trying to convince myself this might happen. I'm also convinced Arsenal will make a move for a striker today. Edu has put pressure on himself saying judge him at the end of the window. They have previous for triggering a release clause very late in the window (Thomas Partey).

Can't see either moving, altho Hamer more likely.

Is Viktor's release clause set too high? He is really worth less than £100m because Sporting Lisbon play so many easy fixtures, it downgrades his achievement. If he was in Italy it would be different. Even rich clubs baulk at paying top dollar for a player in a minor league.

I don’t doubt it but it’s not like he’d have been on peanuts at Chelsea and will have likely improved further as a player.

Anyone under 30 going to that league cannot be taken seriously. Playing in front of a few hundred every week in glorified exhibition matches.

I think the most memorable moment is when a fan started whipping a player

The obscene amount Saudi clubs pay in wages is difficult to ignore.

If he does well in the Chumpions league then his value will defo go up.

Especially if he scores against the English teams.

I can get behind this. Every team has a whipping boy. I guess Eccles won't be going to Saudi any time soon then.

Wouldn't need to. Doug can import some of their delicacies and shake up the half time entertainment. Choose the poorest playing player from first half and have a public flogging:

Whip it for a ticket?

JDS would have been red raw if this had been in place last season.
