Still not tested in an ultra competitive league. Last 2 seasons have been Championship level opponents and his extremely high release clause must be a deterrent. If he left us to Germany, Spain or Italy, to a lower ranked team, then I'd imagine he'd seem more of a cert for one of the bigger clubs.

Mostly true , but he did make pepe look like a child last season and bossed atalanta in the europa league.. he's definitely got the ability to play at the top

Would love to see him make it to the very top, handled himself well last summer and very nearly propelled us to promotion.

Still don’t think he will be moving just yet. Price tag too high. Could have done with him being at the Euros this summer with Sweden.

Nearly got us promoted playing for us and then moved on and gave us the cash to set up another tilt. What a player.

Is it realistic that Vik is going to move before the current window ends and sell on money to come in?

I'd say no.

There continues to be very little in the way of concrete evidence that anyone is seriously bidding for him. Sporting also haven't signed anyone and are backing out of the race to sign Iodannis due to interest and a higher bid from Leicester. Their season has already started and they already sold Paulinho - so they need 1-2 more strikers in if Gyokeres was to move.

So I'd say it's looking very unlikely that anything happens in this window.

I'm not too fussed, providing he has another good season (he will) and doesn't pick up a bad injury (fingers crossed)
Have a look at 2 of the goals he set up against Porto (particularly the first) if you want a reminder as to how good he is.

Also a very nice assist on Friday against (admittedly terrible) Rio Ave. Sprung the offside trap perfectly.

For me I do think this is his peak valuation - given his age and playing style - I'm not sure how long he will maintain these levels physically but also it's going to be really hard for him to have a better season this year. Perhaps if they have a good run in the Champions League.

Various outlets (none of note though from what I can see) are still linking him to Arsenal and less so Liverpool but Sporting have said he’s going nowhere. They’ve already kicked off their season and Vik scored in the opener. Can’t rule a move out but it looks unlikely in this window.

I agree that I think he would of moved already if he was going to move, however, i also strongly agree that this is his peak value, what happens if he doesn't score so many this season, or gets injured etc. If I was him I would be desperate for a move this summer to the Premier League, increase in wage, better opposition, if you do well there, the world is his oyster afterwards

In the long term it is perhaps better for us if he has another year in Portugal. If he emulates last seasons form again this year the offers for him next summer will surely be humongous.

I think he had an operation the day after the season ended. He’s back playing but that may have also played a part in him not moving, at least so far this window. Still can’t see a move happening though until next summer.

If it doesn’t it’s not the end of the world - we’ve still had some money from Sporting for the ‘option’ in the deal. I’d imagine his sell-on has been reduced to 5% because of this.

Maybe he just likes living in Lisbon, it's a beautiful city, he's on a decent wage ,will be playing in the CL and has a Portuguese gf these days.

The world doesn’t revolve around the PL. If I was him I’d be looking to play in Spain or Italy.

No but money talks and more often than not, there’s more offered in our top league.

Let’s not forget the prem teams and their owners are huge panic mongers. A couple of games without goals before the end of August and someone will get the wallet out.

Arsenal seem to be trimming their squad of home grown players in foreward positions. If I was optimistic I'd say it was to make room for an expensive forward... However I am not, I'd say they're trying to balance the books after 3 or 4 years of wild spending.

I thought he'd be a good fit for someone like Atletico Madrid or one of the Milan teams, as it's a step up with a chance of challenging for silverware whilst also still having the possibility of getting an even bigger further move down the line if he continued to improve

Atletico just bought Alvarez and both Milan teams would struggle to pay the fee.

Yeah I meant more in the past tense now, especially as AC Milan have just got Morata.
You're probably right about the lack of funds though

Still time. Eddie Nketiah will be moving on shortly and Arsenal need a forward as a matter of necessity despite what Arteta says about backing Jesus. The low return on goals from their forward players is incredible for a title challenger.

The lack of credible links is a concern but these things pop up and escalate so quickly once an acceptable bid is in.

...Or I'm living in hope because I accidentally put money on this transfer happening as I forgot to remove it from my betslip.

Don’t see it happening now either which is a big concern as I don’t envisage us getting the marquee CM or CB/RB.

Lots of talk we are at our spending cap for FFP so I think the squad stays mainly the same without it.
