€65 million seems quite cheap. £54 million. Surprised they couldn't get a bit more given his scoring record (albeit in a poor league).

I think it’s basically Sporting’s way of thanking him for not leaving last summer or in January. Not pricing him out of a move.

They surely must sell this season to get a fee out of Viktor, I doubt there was any realistic option to hold on to him.

Think they agreed last summer that if he stayed for an extra season they wouldn’t hold out for full release clause fee

Looks like he’s been on some sort of Ronaldo training regime in Lisbon - he was never this much of a tank at Coventry

Have them on toast with a squeeze of lemon and a drizzle of olive oil. Marvellous.

There are reports that Arsenal representatives are in Lisbon today to try and conclude a deal for Vic at €65 million (£58 million).

I think the sooner it is done the better for us. We will then have time to go into the transfer market before the most suitable players have gone.

Good! As much as we could have done with someone spunking £100 million on Vik, transfer prices are completely obscene. If they are being driven down its only a good thing.

It's his release clause, was never and could never be more.

There could be a bidding war yet if Sporting are going to accept a lower fee than the buy out.

Multiple clubs are in and soon as Sporting blink on the price more will try to jump in. 80 mill euros i think is the figure Sporting want and the more come in the more likely that will be the figure its closer too.

it does make you think about the scouting in premier league, all you had to do is watch vik live a few times to realise the premier potential in him. even if the scouts did and reported back to the club and said, "cov only want £20m" i struggle to understand why a club (like arsenal and utd) wouldnt have taken the punt, when say Utd are happy to spend £64m on Hojlund who scored 9 in 32!

I’ll be honest, I’ve still got a feeling Vik won’t do well in the PL.

As I’ve learned a couple of times, write off Vik at your peril. But then again he won’t be playing most away games at glorified leisure centres every other week in the PL…

Plenty of people at the time thought we'd ripped Sporting at that price, including many Sporting fans. Of course in retrospect it looks quite different.

He's clearly a player who wants to play every minute of every game and I think he wanted a realistic prospect of Champions League. Sporting was a great move for all parties. I'm not sure he would have got the same amount of exposure and game time for a Premiership club who had the same CL opportunities.
