Playing under Wilder would have done him no favours whatsoever. He's dreadful with strikers and virtually all of them have regressed significantly with him in charge.

Confession time. I did say that I thought the reason Arsenal etc were reluctant to pay the release clause was because of the league he was playing in (and also why any number were unwilling to stump up the cash to buy him from us). I think me and Arsenal have been put in our place.

Some interesting comments from Viveash in this one.

"Vik would want to do training sessions to be the way Vik wanted to work. He wanted to do finishing at a certain time, he wanted to do this, he wanted to do that. He had a strong character, strong personality and when you get two of you like that, then you have to find a way of communicating.

"And you'd butt heads at times, for the good of each other really, but he certainly understood his worth as time went on. He was almost unplayable in the Championship in a lot of those games.

"But towards the end of that season, there were frustrations and things around him as an individual, maybe that's when, whether his head was being turned.

"He became quite difficult. And I think he'd be honest with that. He became quite difficult to work with in terms of trying to train every day."

What are peoples interpretation of this?

We all knew he had an attitude in the sense of wanting to be the best and constantly pushing himself, and by default others. But never an attitude in terms of being difficult to work with?

When did Viveash say this?! Doesn't surprise me. The alleged training ground bust up with Godden before the Norwich away game in October 2022, the berating of younger players for not passing to him. However some players are like this, and it probably helps them being the player they are. Vik worked hard, but I don't remember many assists or sweet link up play with his teammates. (except that play off final goal) He'd get the ball to the feet and try and roll the defender, or run onto long balls and head for goal. I bet he plays the same way for Sporting and will do the same at his next club.

He didn't though, his potential was clear and we signed him.
People see a couple of poor touches or misunderstandings with teammates, declare that somebody is useless, keep the blinkers on and completely ignore their attributes.
And it's still happening with some very good players now

The difference last night was staggering, Vik looked like a galloping thoroughbred and Harland like a shire horse out to stud!
It’ll be hard to see VG in a feckin Utd shirt if it happens

In terms of the greatest players I was luckily enough to witness at Cov. Bill Glazier, Dennis Mortimer, Gary Gillespie & Gary McAllister …. Although the first two never got the international recognition they deserved…. In BG’s case being behind the world’s greatest keeper in Gordon Banks!

It would be a big downside for him not to be in the CL next season.

I don't get the thinking he is a shoe-in at Utd. Other than Amorim, what have they got to offer that all the others don't?

Vik doesn't strike me as someone who is driven by the highest pay packet. He wants titles, trophies and accolades.

When he left us he was 100% determined to join Sporting and no other club (turned down more money from clubs in England)....he won't be joining Manchester United purely because Amorin has gone there.

This is the same Viveash that Robins saw fit to get rid of.

Quite often when someone describes someone else as having an attitude problem, it’s actually them who has the problem

But then you can put it against a manager who made Sporting what they are now. Why did Gyokeres want to go to Sporting? If it was their manager why wouldn't he want to follow him to one of the biggest clubs in the world?

And I can't see Amorim going there without being given the money to sort them out. If he can get them winning this season it won't be too late to be in the CL next season. Only 10 games played and 6 points away. Other than Manchester City and Liverpool all other sides are looking average with Forest in 3rd just 7 points ahead of Manchester United.

I’m sure Vik would go there if he were to be the main man up front. Some whispers also that Barcelona might want him as a Lewandowski replacement though

Frustration noticable during that penalty incident...where Gyokores took ball off Godden. I remember at the time thinking thats not a good look vik and was not happy. Godden to me was the penalty taker then all day long.

I'm not sure where this specific wording came from but Vivesh did an interview late last season and then (I think) another one more recently (unless that was just more details from the first one). My take away from the first one was that Adi said 'i don't think I'm difficult to work with' which implied that other people though he was. Gyokeres also expressed surprise that he got the player of the year award because he was known for being a pain in training so it's no great surprise they clashed.

Second interview (release) was really interesting in that Adi admitted he didn't rate Gyokeres at first and that he was very much a Robins pick. That might make those who are feeling sheepish about not seeing his potential early on feel a little better and it is good to know the man that was responsible for bring him in is still at the club.

Haaland is such an odd one. He never looks great in games but obviously can't dispute the scoring record.

Crazy to say given the reputations but Vik has a better all round game.

If an when he does move on and we have been paid out, are we due any money from any other sell ons? Is something due if SUFC sell on Hamer, and do they really still owe us money from the original transfer??

Only a broken leg stop Bill Glazier playing for England regularly, not forgetting Jimmy Hill paid a World record fee for a goalkeeper and that was when the club was in the then second division.

28 games to go and only 7 points off 3rd. It's wide open this season. Who thought Forest would be in 3rd?

Then add to it the new manager bounce. Players giving more effort to try and get in the side. And they've only lost 1 in the last 7.

I doubt Hamer will be sold for any fee greater than the fee we got for him now. By next summer he's 28 albeit still with two years left on his contract.
