Supposedly talked into staying at Sporting by Amorim in the Summer and not impressed that he’s now jumped ship.

That’s football: no loyalty, short careers, agents, ridiculous disparities of wealth.

Exactly
Won’t be complaining when his salary is trebled with a nice fat signing on fee.

If any move to United is to materialise, then a few other forwards will need to be sold off.......and given those players inflated salaries....they'll be difficult to shift.

I don't know that Utd have the funds but if they did Amorim would surely have to sweet talk him into giving up other potential Prem (and CL) opportunities. This is his season to get that move though, I am not sure anyone will pay the sort of money Sporting are looking for as he ages.

Vik is at Sporting because of the coach. So either way Utd or not… he will be off either in the next window but for sure next summer.

United will be the least attractive option he has. Sporting will accept less than his release fee. European clubs will be falling over themselves to sign him.

United won't be in the CL again. Next to no chance of winning a title any time soon. Laughing stock of English football. Known player, especially striker, graveyard. Surely him and his agent are wanting better than that.

The only way he goes to United is for money.

Not necessarily. Granted Man U have been a shit show for a good while but they are a decent manager away from turning it around. The financial backing is now there . Admittedly it won't happen overnight but it will happen. They are too big a club with potentially big resources for it not too. And btw I'm not a fan of theres and would prefer them to continue being dire .

Says who? Nobody really came in for him the summer. I think interested teams (wrongly) thought he was over priced?

There are better teams where he could get money and winners medals.

Despite their relative struggles they're still the biggest club in Britain and top 3 in Europe/the world.

Manchester United are still (somehow) one of the biggest clubs in the world. Vik would be very tempted I'm sure. Imagine if him and Amorim are part of getting them back to the top table. That's a project and probably more tempting than sitting on the bench at Man City

They also pay obscene wages which helps

Yes, they have the income but squander it. They are a long way off being great again because the fans expectation holds them back.

The fact they are the biggest in Britain top three in Europe/ the world makes their failings even more spectacular!

Sky Blues fans take note, success is a hard recipe to make!

Agreed, and I think even a few seasons ago it would still be a no brainer. But the club as a whole just seems so toxic that it sinks the prospects of anyone who joins. Who was the last player they paid money for who's gone on and improved? Genuinely can't think of one.

If Amorim did want Gyokeres, he would then have to find buyers for Hojlund and Zirkzee who's only just joined, or make them accept being second choice. So as I said, I'd be quite surprised if it happened.

He’s not going to go for cut price.

Release fee will need to be met

We will see. Depends which club needs a striker and that kind of money needs a bit of finding and within FFP constraints

66 goals in 65 games. Needs to do it on a longer term basis to show the big clubs he has a degree of consistency
