Will be interesting to see how he gets on. The talk of him being unable to play out is a bit of a misnomer at the moment - Rotherham have never played with that style. He may well be shit at it but no real way of knowing yet.

Tall, good with his feet ... Corey Addai anyone? Won't be popular of course from the same ones who hate Wilson and expect us to be competing for out of contract David De Gea

Think we had issues with his work ethic and that’s the kind of thing a former manager isn’t going to look past.

Probably true, but if the penny has dropped then it was 6 years ago. Let's not forgetvthe difference between the professionalism in the two versions of Michael Doyle we had.

How does this work with your accounts fish / face? Do you have 2 screens with one logged into each so you can answer yourself and like posts? Reckon I'd forget which was which.

If anyone cared to look at individual stats, Johansson plays the exact opposite to how we want a GK to play. His distribution is ‘hoof ball’ (in short). In part, that will be in part tactical to how Rotherham play but he’s unlikely to be a GK we’re interested in.

The next GK we sign will be expected to be able to play out from the back. So if he hasn’t demonstrated that previously, it’s a non-starter.

Rob Gurney was the one who kept going on about him, i am delighted we are not getting him. I like Rob, but on this he was dead wrong, no idea why he was so infatuated with him.

Who in the Championship can be trusted to do that without giving the ball away in his own third of the pitch every couple of games?

There are plenty of teams whose keepers play it short even more often than we do. Most teams are going long less than a third of the time. It’s basically the standard way of playing in this division now.

Playing short, quick passes to get up the pitch is fine and good. Slowly passing it side to side in your own box and doing triangles in the 6 yard area however is begging for trouble even with top class players, never mind second tier ones.

Even the best Prem goalkeepers give the ball away, Raya in the North London derby gift wrapped a goal for Son. Imagine the reaction had they dropped points that game?

A lot of fans ‘don’t like’ their GKs playing from the back but there’s a reason so many coaches up and down world football have adopted that tactically. All the best teams in our league have GKs who play from the back.

There’ll be keepers out there who can do what MR want.

Well yes, in the same way that crosses which are fast and accurate are good, whereas ones that are slow and don’t go anywhere near your own players are bad.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with keepers playing it short, and most keepers these days do.

Shooting is alright when it goes in the net, but sometimes it goes miles wide, or over. I’m not a fan.

A mishit shot or a poor cross don’t tend to have a high chance of resulting in a goal conceded, but sure.

Why is a goal conceded worse than a goal not scored?

It does depend a lot who is shooting. Hamer or Torp yes I quite often want them to shoot but hate it when the crowd shout shoot when Sheaf has the ball.

Okay he's not coming to the Sky Blues, but Name any Keeper that doesn't have a Shocker, it's the good keeper's that have them only occasionally.

Yeah, I’m all for players being brave on the ball at the back but some of the stuff was suicidal at times. Pinging the ball to a player on the edge of the area (in the middle) with one or two opponents pressing is just asking for trouble

Repeating myself but we gave the ball away far too easily/cheaply at times, usually with full backs pushed up the pitch so got caught and outnumbered regularly. It’s one of the reasons we didn’t look as solid at the back this year
