From the Athletic:-

Brighton’s Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres is set to switch from Swansea to Championship rivals Coventry on loan, reports Andy Naylor.

The Athletic understands the 22-year-old also attracted interest in his homeland from Malmo, but Gyokeres and Brighton both prefer that he continues to pursue a career in the UK.

Opportunities have been limited for Gyokeres since joining Swansea in October. Nine of his 12 appearances have been as a substitute. He scored his only goal for the club in one of his three starts in Saturday’s 2-0 FA Cup win at Stevenage.

Moving to Coventry reunites Gyokeres with Brighton team-mate Leo Ostigard. The 21-year-old Norwegian defender spent last season on loan with Gyokeres to St Pauli in Bundesliga 2.

Gyokeres has made eight first-team appearances for Brighton, all in the FA Cup or Carabao Cup. Ostigard has yet to make a senior appearance for his parent club.

Suggested him in the summer when we signed Ostigaard and before Walker. Makes a huge amount of sense. Think he hasn't been playing down the middle for Swansea when he has and been playing off the front man more. He's a striker though.

I don't know if it's a coincidence but the Scandinavian supporters club on facebook said there was an incoming striker signing today, and Swedish supporters in particular would be interested

Sheaf, ostigard, James, McCallum, Giles and this guy would take us to 6 loans. I assume the rule is still only 5 allowed in a match day squad?

Would presume it would be one of McCallum or Giles to be dropped unless we have any scope to turn one of the loans into a permanent deal. When does the window for either of them to be recalled shut?

I think he more nous than our fit options. In about the third goal in that vid he runs across the defender once in the box. Max was in a similar position last week and didn't do so and was hence pushed away from goal. Also not a hint of a smile even after scoring. It's a yes from me.

Just bobbed onto the Swansea forum. Doesn't sound like he's had much of a chance - but they have got Ayew and Lowe who would always be ahead of him. If we need a body (which we do), sounds like a no brainer. Hopefully we will have done our research on him. As somebody else suggested, MattyGodden could effectively be out for most/all of the season, and we have to be careful not to rush Walker back before he is ready, so we need somebody in.
