He needs a run of game time and he’s going to get better and better. He has all the attributes to be a top player for us.

Torp and Rudoni are both quality. We are going to do well this season if we are lucky with injuries.

Drogba was at Chelsea for 18 months before he finally settled down and became the fantastic player that everybody remembers. Could well be that Torp is struggling with being in a new country and the expectation on his shoulders maybe weighing on his mind for the moment.
There's a very good player in there.

Spot on. This happens time and again with players moving to different countries and leagues, especially if there’s a step up in quality and intensity of the league. Might be wrong but pretty sure Henry was the same. You can imagine in any walk of life you move country, start in a new workplace where you don’t know anyone, the jobs a lot harder than your last one etc etc. takes time to adjust

There’s no guarantee Torp will be a success but people passing quick judgements after a handful of games should’ve learned their lessons by now

Real quality in that compilation, great feet and can pick a pass, that ball out to Tavares was class.

You’re really obtuse when you want to be so let’s revisit some of the things you had to say about how great our season was going in Dec 2019:

I didn’t have to go back further, before Xmas our form over the prior 10 games had us 19th, hence my comments about a slow start.

Goodnight Fernando.

Haha, it still doesn't show why it was a bad start to the season

He was certainly better on Tuesday than he was against Stoke, I think he'll play even better if he's got a more physical, defence minded player like Eccles or Sheaf alongside him.

… I’ll let you debate that with 2019/20 Fernando.

He had some nice touches but it was less convinced with how we looked defensively and in possession it was often too cautious (this isn’t just Torp btw).

I we played Eccles, Rudoni, Torp I think I'd have Torp as the mot advanced of the three.

He is so underrated by some, yes he needs to work on a few things but just on that you can see he is now hassling players and winning the ball back effectively.

If that reel was of a player we were being linked to people would be creaming them selves at his vision. Loads to come from Torp, Im sure he'll be a fans favourite

I originally said judge him around November time

However so far I really do not think he's cut out for this league. Reminds me of Shipley. Fantastic with a dead ball and if it's dropping onnthe edge of the 18 yard box he is who you want

But he can't tackle, hides away, and wants hours on the ball he doesn't have

He stands off at least 10 yards when an opposing player is crossing from deep. I am struggling a bit to see any sign at all that he's going to get up to the level needed in this team.

On the ball he's not much better, he had one opportunity to show his passing range and put Wright away and completely fucked it. Looking like £2m wasted at this point.

Agree with the two posts above. Doesn’t look up to the level required, if we’re going to sign a new midfield it’ll be his place in the team that goes.

Consistency is key, he's either world beater or carpet beater. When he's good, he is brilliant.

I'm not saying he is good enough but I don't think he is being played where he is best suited. I see him as back up for Rudoni in the more advanced position. Problem is we don't really have anyone else.

He is just being forced to play out of position at the moment. He clearly needs to be further up the pitch. We need Sheaf back and a backup DM/6 to cover when he's out again as nobody is able to currently

Even if he's playing further forward on the field all of the points still apply, you've got to be quicker and close players down / win your battles. He's doing none of it.

He definitely needs to play further forward and imo shouldn't be judged too harshly just yet...he also suffers (in the commentary) for being blamed for bollocks that Eccles drops

He can improve, I do agree he needs to sharpen up and speed up his decisions but I'd rather that happen further up the pitch and with a shield behind him.

His passing is great and I'm not writing him off untill he has time in his more natural position

Need two CMs in let’s be honest. Get shot of Allen and Palmer and play Torp further forward.

Palmer is perfect back up AM why get rid? We clearly need a CM but I'd not want to lose a more attacking option

Palmer is one of the few in midfield who has done well this season.

We lack someone who can dictate the tempo. Sheaf can but we need another.

I’m not going to bash Torp too much as he’s clearly being asked to do a job he’s not comfortable doing but he was bad today. His passing and awareness were way off

From Torpedo to Torpor: a state of physical or mental inactivity; lethargy.
A bit harsh maybe....
