EDIT: The original tweet also said the flag will make it's debut at the Bristol Away game in Feb, so let's make him/them feel welcome!

Interesting Danish fact and tenuous Coventry/Scandinavia connection. The Elephant with Castle on it’s back is a very common symbol in Denmark. You’ll see it on coat of arms all over the place. I think it’s a direct historical link to the Danish royal family if I remember correctly.

That’s awesome! I do wonder how (and why) we get fans from wider Europe support us! United, Liverpool etc you can get but we are hardly a fashionable club to support!

I wonder if it's a link to Cofa - the Anglo-Saxon who supposedly ruled the area - and where the City may get it's name from - Cofa's Tree.

Think I read once it comes from the Saxon words for 'eternal spring'

Looking at the age of the chap with the flag, we were probably in the top flight when he began following us.

And to be fair, there are a few obscure clubs I keep an eye on because of my attachment to them in Championship Manager.

I’d happily have that as our official badge.

Smart, aggressive, bold, and screams “come on then! We are Cov”

Not sure. I know that they have an order of the elephant which is ordained by the royal family onto dignitaries in Denmark and around the world. It’s sort of an elite knighthood for people who already have titles. You also see lots of swastika symbols also around Denmark. Pre dating the Nazi use of it of course. It’s a religious symbol I believe. The Danish National Flag (Dannebrog) is the oldest national flag too apparently.

I think the Elephant on the Bedworth one is going to have an extra toe

Leamington one is going to have a whitewash house, the Bedworth one is going to have a council house

Even with that flag the 'Scandanvian fan club' isn't exactly going to have the Zulus quivering in their Doc Martins......comprising in typical City fashion just one bloke marching on his own.

Got to say that the elephant looks angry and ready for some aggro; much more menacing than that very effeminate elephant from that graphic design bloke in 2018.

Those birds on the flag look f......g crazy and psychotic........but my money would still be on Greggs' owl in a battle.

Did anyone else scroll down a bit?

I know the guy is a bit of an idiot, but I have to say, I did find this tweet of his amusing.

I also heard it's translated as 'meeting of two rivers' - probably the Sherbourne (called the Cune in Saxon times) and Sowe, or as Settlement/farm near the Cune

If you check the hat of the effigy of the Bishop in Cov Cathedral ruins there are swastikas on his hat. I think it's an old Hindu symbol meaning good fortune/luck or something.

I created a more simplified version of a forward facing elephant badge a few years back (just after that monstrosity of a new badge was revealed). Just felt it was more dynamic and 'in your face', and also more symmetrical.

Obviously nowhere near as good as this flag as I'm no graphic designer but similar style that just needed tidying up by a pro.

It's a bit ice hockey like for me as an official badge with the Viking riding it but really cool for a supporters club

To finish the flag off it just needs a wasps nest impaled onto the axe head with loads of wasps flying around it going ape shit.

There has been a Scandinavian club for many years, and an Irish one. Also, there are the Dutch twins that come over regularly, often in a one day trip - and don’t forget the Italian lad. A really nice fella, and very passionate about the club.

the London supporters club has an international section which many nationalities and clubs are affiliated to.
Have a look at the CCLSC website. Fantastic stuff

Edit: Martcov is a member. Met him at the Cheltenham away game a couple of years. Nice chap and a proper fan.
