In today's CT re Tudgay and Ricketts...
''...to be honest I put it on hold a little bit when the manager's situation was in the press''
Clearly TM's right hand man was not confident he would stay.

But why though! It's not like he even spoke to another club or anything.

I read this the same, must of been a chance of TM taking the Rotherham job. MV knows TM well enough to no if it was dead in the water and to carry on with our summer plans.

Players contracts don't run out until 30th June so still time to make a sensible offer but I'd guess agents are beavering away in the back ground anyway.

Given Venus was supposed to be in the same interview at Rotherham his comments make little sense do they?

Maybe the 'situation in the press' led to the players questioning whether to sign rather than there being any real truth in it..?

Have I missed something about TM? Coventry Telegraph refers to the manager's situation?

Later the club said there was no approach, make of that what you will.

TM was away on holiday
A cynic might say that TM's name was only ever in the betting to keep the odds down for those betting on Alan Stubbs

I told you at the time that he was extremely interested following an interview/chat.

Well he's only contracted for 1 more season with us. Doesn't look like there will a new contract on the table at the moment.

I believe TM and MV have been promised extra funds for coming season. That is why they are still here and will give this season a real push. Bodes well, in my opinion.

If they hadn't been promised a "real shot" at promotion they would have taken up a better offer.

Fingers crossed, Neal.

The higher profile we are the more Wasps are pushed into the background.

Football is and will continue to be the number one sport in this country.

I didn't believe or disbelieve what you said before, but I like this one, so I'll believe you this time.

Personally I'd renew Tudgay but not Rickets.

Rickets an inspirational guy
Young players respect him and will learn so much from him by training and playing with him

If there was plenty of speculation, regarding TM which there was, players read most stuff, so would say im not signing if your not going to be here, if there was truth in it or not, dust is settled now, normal service resumed.lets be happy.

The inspirational practice of blindly signing a contract extension without checking out other offers first. Bet your car insurance is expensive.

If you are successful clubs will come Knocking, no success at the moment and not looking good this season, players need some stability we have none

They don't actually. Footballers are not like 'job for life' employees. They sign short contracts and generally expect to move around.

You could be right Neal, it looks like we are trying to sign real quality this season, as I'd have thought we would have been in for some of the fairly decent players who have recently signed for other league one clubs

Fingers crossed my friend but everything feels different (better) this pre season. I have a good feeling about next season and I am sure TM and MV have learned valuable lessons.
