...."It's tough, but I'm learning all the time (about being a manager), but it's tough, tough"

It's tough being a supporter as well . This doesn't give me any hope whatsoever . It may be obvious and honest but it doesn't instill confidence .

Venus isn't a manager never will be, we are in this mess because of Venus and Mowbray incompetence in the summer regarding recruitment! If we had just got players in who know the league our youth players wouldn't be so exposed, that is down to them two! He can learn all he wants but not as manager of this club, time for him to realise he's not the man!

Problem with recruitment was down to money and the lack of it. Were a basket case off the pitch and the football community will know through other ex players and managers how badly it's run. Your not going to get decent players with no resources who ever is in charge. Even taking that into account Venus is definitely out of his depth, imo he is treading water on behalf of the owners as they can't afford the wage. Who knows in years to come we might be praising him if he was the glue that kept it all together while a new owner was found, however bad the results on the pitch.

We had a budget like other teams but Venus and Mowbray spent poorly and the recruitment was terrible. he kept going on about trying and failing to get five centre backs yet got rid of Aaron Martin before getting any of them. Getting rid of Aaron Philips was also a mistake.

The seeds for this shambles were sown by Mowbray and Venus in the summer.

Have we got a worse budget than Fleetwood and Wimbledon, who both sit nicely just outside the play-offs in 7th and 8th and on exactly the same points as 6th place?

We don't have the 4th worst budget in this league, yet we are the 4th worst team

Someone is under performing

Not my favourite player either but he was ours and would play for the shirt. in a month's time we will lose both full backs as their loans are over.

Yeah and it's this one and the previous one with their shockingly bad recruitment decision making in the summer.

The good news is, the guy who isn't doing well as manager but wants to be manager also has a big say in who we pick as manager. Hooray!

Agree but where's the depth? what if DKE gets injured? Philips would have been ideal to step in. And as I said Martin should never have been let go either . TM /MV really lost it this summer and their failures are the reason why we are struggling .

have we ever had depth like that? sherry, and dke is the depth most teams have.
Willis can play out there so there's better depth than retaining Philips, Philips was a massive liability and his dad was too vocal in social media for him to be retained

We say the same thing every game. no matter who the opposition they seem to have massive, no nonsense defenders.

The only player we have with any type of physicality is Willis who is prone to mistakes most games anyway.

Oh dear.

Is this the same Aaron Martin who can't even get a game for Oxford Utd?

Yes the same Aaron Martin who was probably our most consistent defender last season.

Consistently crap.

He can't head, he can't tackle and he couldn't pass.

He's 6 foot 3 and has all the aggression of a meditating hippy.

Whatever blinkers you were wearing last year I hope to god you've taken them off.

Without Martin.

And it's the same Oxford Utd that we beat a few weeks ago.

So what's your point as it has nothing to do with Martin.

Whilst we can disagree on the merits of Martin - personally still think he is a good solid defender - I would guess most would still rather have him in the squad than not. Poor decision by TM.

Who in their right mind would sign for us in the January window, they can see the club is a mess only gypsies and vagabonds apply.

MV doesn't know what to do, or how to get out of it and hasn't got the tools or finance to change it. He certainly, whether he recognises it or not, has helped put the squad together that is too poor for L1. I would also think being manager and director creates a bit of a barrier between him and the players at a time when they need to all feel in it together on the playing side. He is not the man to get us out of this imo ....... but I really cant think of anyone who could given the mess on and off the field

Yeah we're a fucking joke off the pitch but in leaguer one, where the vast majority of players are on 1 year contracts this isn't going to prevent players joining. I bet lower league players would jump at the chance to play at CCFC in the Ricoh over Rochdale or Chesterfield. We didn't try to get these solid league one players though, Mowbray was after players obviously far too good for us.

He and Venus (I assume) seemed to spend the whole summer trying to sign players who would never sign as we don't have the budget.

Yep. They said on the Sky commentary on Friday night that Barnsley now tend to recruit from lower and non leagues, something that we should be doing. Also MV needs to look at unattached list too.
