Probably not. Anyone free (unless coming from a foreign league) would have been unattached since last season. They wouldn't be anywhere near fit enough to make an impact until January at the earliest but more likely mid to lat feb (I.e. moussa, king, hunt, Cole, etc all took a fair while to get going). They have to have been unattached in the august window in order to be eligible to sign now

Joey Barton
Has he gone anywhere yet?
Just kidding it's obvious he'll go higher than us.

Can he sign for somebody now as he was contracted to rangers when the transfer window closed?

Venus isn't permenant. Hate to ruin your theory but post premier relegation we've had more permenant managers pre sisu than post. They keep managers longer than prior owners of the club and most last longer than the football league average.

Sorry to ruin your theory....

The average time for a league 1 manager is 1.4 years.

The average time for a league one manager under SISU is 1 year.

I make it 13 managers in 9 years, or 8 in 9 years if you discount the temporary appointments (but not Venus).
  • Iain Dowie (2007–2008)
  • Frankie Bunn & John Harbin (caretakers) (2008)
  • Chris Coleman (2008–2010)
  • Aidy Boothroyd (2010–2011)
  • Steve Harrison & Andy Thorn (caretakers) (2011)
  • Andy Thorn (2011–2012)
  • Richard Shaw & Lee Carsley (caretakers) (2012)
  • Mark Robins (2012–2013)
  • Lee Carsley (caretaker) (2013)
  • Steven Pressley (2013–2015)
  • Neil MacFarlane & Dave Hockaday (caretakers) (2015)
  • Tony Mowbray (2015–2016)
  • Mark Venus (caretaker) (2016)

Why do we have three threads including this one on the same topic i.e. Venys's suitability for the manager's job??

What am i saying, this is SBT where every thread eventually wanders onto the same topic. As Rene from Allo Allo used to say about the old bloke Leclerc who always failed miserably to disguise himself. ..."ze man of a thousand faces....every one the same!"

Lol - you said "in the last 8 years" - no it's league one as as usual your facts have been hopelessly wrong and your wrong again.

Presley and Mowbray both lasted longer than 1.4 years and robins was headhunted!

Another 30 yard screamer into your own net

Just playing by your rules after you changed them for me.

It was a match winner and still is, you are like Kevin Keegan at the moment.

Fact is as a football manager in league one. The average manager in league gets 40% more time than you before you they are sacked or leave.

What are you on about? Mowbray and Pressley had far longer than the average.

Then you're talking about an average of Mowbray and Pressley at CCFC. Dong is talking about the average across ALL leagues managers at All league clubs over a set period of time. Just because TM and SP have managed to buck this trend in isolated cases doesn't mean that we haven't had a higher than average turnover of managers since SISU arrival.

No he's claiming an average manager in league one lasts 1.4 months - only thorn lasted less. Pressley was in the top 25 of longest serving managers when he was sacked.

The notion we are a managers graveyard under sisu is not a fact at all. We'd have sacked Mowbray well before he walked under normal owners. Thorn would have been binned after two months in the championship and Pressley round have been told to pack his bags after the Worcester debacle.

I am just sticking with facts
Average time for a league one manager with us is 1 year.
Average time for a league one manager full stop is 1.4 years.

You stick to your isolated examples I will stick to the actual facts.

Also I never realised MM was the yard stick we should comparing running football clubs to?

Full time managers in League 1:

SP - 717 days
TM - 576 days
MR - 148 days

Robins takes that down massively, and he went to a different job rather than sacked.

If Mowbray didn't walk he would have been here well over 600 days.

The facts are you have longer here than the average club unless you move to another club of your own accord.

Has does Andy Thorn's 3 matches in league one affect things.

He was a permanent manager under SISU in league one for a few months.
Let's not totally forget he existed

TM and AT haven't moved to other clubs of their own accord?
TM just had enough.
AT was sacked after 3 games in league one.

AT doesn't really count as a League 1 manager does he?

I'd rather forget he existed all together to be honest. If you are then just counting the games he was in charge in league 1 to try and make out that all managers go quickly in league 1 it's scraping the barrel.

And TM left because he was failing and did the honourable thing. He should have been sacked anyway, and right so given his record in 2016.

Thorn was in charge for over 1.4 seasons in total.

He must have thought sisu were a registered charity allowing him the job in the first place.
