Easier to start a new thread.

50 confirmed dead, 200 injured.

How on earth does somebody get so much time to do all of that before being taken out? It's worrying in this day and age.

Navada state laws allow you to carry an assault rifle and there's no limit to magazine size.

Yes but even with that Stu, there must be equally twenty other gun holding people out there firing back at him! Awful news!

Have they tried to tie it back to terrorism yet?!

Because you can carry rifles that shoot hundreds of rounds per minute and if you're shooting that sort of weapon in to a crowd you're going to hit a lot of people before you're stopped.

was also shooting into the event from the Mandalay Bay, locating where the shots were coming from would have took some time I'd imagine.

maybe he'd didn't like country music, maybe he got turned away from the event, and I'm not being flippant saying that, it could be something so innocuous to make someone like this flip. Problem in the States is, pretty much anyone can get hold of guns so it's a bad combination.

Absolutely shocking and unbelievable that they continue with the insane belief of right to bear arms. Absolute madness.

But guns don't kill people, people kill people.

What an idiot that Charlton Heston was.

While I sympathise in general, not entirely sure he merits 'legend' in the headline!

You could almost (almost) make a case for the right to bear a handgun in a dangerous country like the US but being able to own enough firepower to start a small war is beyond comprehension

IMO the right to bear arms causes the dangerous aspect of the country!

When will they learn?
BBC said:
What are the state's gun laws?

The state of Nevada has some of the most permissive gun laws in the US. It is legal to carry an assault rifle and there is no magazine capacity limit.

There are no purchase permits and blue cards are no longer required.

There is no waiting period mandated for firearm purchases and private gun sales are OK.

I agree it doesn't help one bit but there is also a slightly fucked altered reality about the country too. Insular societies where the lines between fantasy and reality are blurred

Yeah, you try taking guns off some of those people and they would literally start a guerrilla war.

How do you get to 64, and then decide to do something like that?

Or it seems you could just buy one second hand off a bloke down the pub as private sales are allowed.

They claim everything!

Surprised they haven't claimed my Lexus as one of theirs.

Anyway, he's not your stereotypical terrorist if so...

They're single shot only though, fully-automatic rifles require a federal permit anywhere in the United States.

Just seen his brother being interviewed, there doesn't seem to have been any sign of anything untoward going on. His last text to him was asking how their mom was. Very odd, I wonder what's tipped him over the edge.

It's in the US constitution, so it cannot be changed!
New York City and Chicago have among the toughest gun control laws in the entire USA, yet there are still thousands of gun deaths per year in those cities.

Semi-automatic is allowed. And it's easy to convert a semi-automatic to an automatic.
Fully-automatic weapons are available from many sources. And criminals rarely abide by laws.

It's also a fact that making it legal to carry arms will inevitably lead to more deaths
