Would it have given them a penalty and would you take it next season?

I'd take it now. Its getting ridiculous. I've been AntiVar since it came in but somethings got to change

We really need VAR in the Championship. We’ve been denied countless penalties of our own, a goal versus Hull and today’s penalty for Derby was a travesty.

I don’t think VAR would have given that. A yellow for diving.

I'd agree, but VAR is flawed.

How can you have a system that's picked n chosen when to be used?

Even when they do use it, it's not a fair system. It's opinion and open to manipulation.

The goal that should have sent villa down springs to mind.

Would still rather have this than VAR.

If they bought it in only to correct huge errors like today then fine but their decisions and what they decide to review is completely arbitrary atm.

I genuinely think with VAR we would be well clear into the playoffs this season

Despite the horrific officiating we see nearly every week, I just can’t bring myself to want VAR in City games.

There is talk next year of there being a low-cost video monitoring system that stops the real cock ups. But wouldn't be used for a finger being offside.

Nah it evens itself out over the season.

VAR needs to be used in every professional division.

VAR wouldn’t have given us a goal vs Hull

Of course it does. It’s not like there’s some conspiracy against us - all teams get dodgy decisions.

There doesn’t need to be a conspiracy just a disparity in shithouse tactics. Refs are human after all.

Fuck VAR. Convoluted bullshit tailored to fans who either only watch from home, or who are too unhinged to take the rough with the smooth.

Just give the fourth official iFollow on an iPad and teams the ability to call for a second opinion. No idea why it needs to cost loads.

I'd love somebody to work it out. I could count 6/7 near identical decisions that have gone against us comparable to the dive today.

Two penalty shouts on Tuesday alone that were a similar level.

It's not. The cameras are there already. Every game is filmed with multi-cam.

Who cares if it doesn’t? Let football be arbitrary and unfair. It’s fun that way.

Totally agree if like @Sick Boy said it evens out. This year it feels like it hasn't.

Lets just randomly assign results based on numbers picked by puppies at half time, how fun!

Why not just simulate the game on FIFA beforehand? No mistakes or refereeing errors that way, sounds perfect

I don't think it would have been given if we had VAR but the other shout when dabo air kicked between their strikers legs probably would have.

I'd rather not have VAR though.

Like Godden against Fulham.

On a side note, for every one that we havent been given that may have been given with VAR, I we'd probably have just as many not given against us this season, given due to VAR.

Weird shit happens in football. A player like Jordan Shipley scoring a screamer from 25 yards against QPR is no more fair than a ref botching a penalty call - should we have VAR call those back too?

600 quid per extra official for every game plus other costs. There was an EFL statement about the cost breakdown I saw a while ago. It's millions

Let's all go fucking mental, smash our shins, fall over rows of seats, tongue strangers and bring ourselves to the precipe of stroke or a heart attack only to find out ten minutes later it was all in vain thank to an accountant with a monitor sat 120 mile away.
